Stupid Post Office!

I went to the West Babylon Post Office today to weigh my invitation and buy stamps for them. They told me it would be 61 cents, but they didn't have any wedding stamps left. Ok, no problem there I will just go to the one in Babylon Village. I go there and I have them weigh it again, just in case. They were like 'Ok, it's going to cost $1.05 per invitation.' I was like 'WHAT?!?!' West Babylon just told me 61 cents!!!! They said if I put 61 cents on there then all the invitations would be sent back to me. They said that since my envelope is larger than normal is why it's more money. $173 later, and I now have stamps. I'm glad I had them weigh it again, instead of just getting stamps.

I never had to hand cancel anything before, so this might sound stupid, but is this how it works:

You put the stamps on, go to the Post Office and ask them to hand cancel them, then they either let you do it or they do it themselves?

Same thing happened to us..

Day 1 Lindenhurst: 81 cents per envelope (weighed and confirmed by two people... bought stamps and stamed invites at home

Day 2 Lindenhurst: FH goes to mail them.. they say $1.05 (2 different people). He comes homes

Day 3 Copiague- I ask 'do I have enough postage' (at .88 cents playing stupid.. Lady says yes, but let me check with supervisor.. Supervisor says 1.05...

My envelopes now have to pretty wedding stamps (total 88cents) and an ugly 17 cent ram stamp :(

Oh well! Can't argue with the post office too much!

Yeah... when I got my invites from 'her' she told me to take the to two different post offices' because they can differ!! Sounded strange but I guess she's right.

I was told it would be 1.05 but since I loved the purple Love stamps so much and they matched my envelopes, I had to put three on. So I used 1.32 per invite.. I think (HOPE) I am covered!!
