Re: Stupid question

I got my dress from paradise bridal and my dress is considered ivory but its not yellow its more like antique white but they said the guys should wear ivory shirts

Re: Stupid question

This is why I am so confused and I actually made the mistake of telling FH my dress was ivory of which he responded 'you aren't wearing white'

Re: Stupid question

depends, if your dress is ivory and his is stark white then can sometimes make the dress look darker or some say dirty. I wore ivory and dh wore ivory shirt

Re: Stupid question

we were actually looking at tuxes yesterday.... my dress is diamond white and the guy showed us a 'diamond white' shirt and held it against a swatch and it matched perfectly. He held a white shirt against the swatch of my dress and I had a heart attack at how yellow my dress material looked!

FH was freaking for a sec bc he thought the diamond white shirt looked dirty, but that was just looking at it next to the white shirt. Under the jacket it actually looked quite nice.

Great picture by the way, and I do like how both the dress and shirt match.

To be honest I had no clue there were that many colors.
Did you get the swatch of your dress once it came in?

thank you very much

the only thing alot of tux shops say or alot of girls post about on here is that if his shirt is alot whiter than your dress then makes your dress look yellow or not even yellow bc mine was ivory and dont think it looks yellow-ish but just shows the difference and makes the dress look more blah i guess, or using the word others say which is dirty

My fear is having one of us 'look dirty'

once you go to the tux shop just tell them the color of your dress and they'll show you your options. It'll be easier to decide once you are there and see it in person. If you have a swatch of your dress by then even better

The tux guy was right in the store I got my dress in, so they had swatches. But the girl went a step further and we and got a dress by the same designer as mine in diamond white (not my dress of course).

You should be able to get a swatch from your dress shop

yea exactly, i tried on my dress when it came in and I was glad I didn't get 'white' bc I thought the diamond white was still so bright, but held up to the stark white shirt the diamond white definitely looked yellowish!

Re: Stupid question

I just had this conversation yesterday and found out that if your dress is ivory, his shirt needs to be ivory also. If it's white it's going to make your dress look yellow.

Re: Stupid question

I think they should match. If your dress is Ivory and his shirt were white.. when you put them next to eachother it's not going to match and you will be able to tell. Also, if his shirt is white it will make the Ivory on your dress look a lot less white and maybe even a dingy color. I think tuxedo places have all sorts of shirts that are made to match the different shades of white from our dresses. So he should be able to get an Ivory shirt.
