When you have your target number of guests for your RH....lets say '200' (and you want to stay at that number) When you compile your guest list and say I invited 275 ppl in order to get my target number.....are you counting the number of guests x the RSVP # (2) or are you counting the estimated RSVPs based on the overall count. I hope I'm making sense...
so for instance, I'm inviting 100ppl in order to get 200 guests assuming that I have 100% yes response rate.
What are your thoughts???

Re: stupid question about guest list
I wanna help but I am lil confused
Is your question, how do you come up with the number of people to invite in order to stay within your target number?
For instance: We guaranteed 150. We would ideally like to have 170 the most. We have invited 200 in order to reach that 170 mark.
That said and If i understand what you mean, I will reach my target number by over inviting and assuming a specific number of no's
I hope this helped and I didnt confuse you more!

Re: stupid question about guest list
if i understand correctly - you really need to go through a list of your projected guest list. there are A LOT of family that we knew wouldn't be able to make it. i think its hard to put a number on something until you get a handle on the amount of people you KNOW will come and work from there.

That's right. Where I'm trying to get at is this....how many paper invitaions do i have to send in order to get 200 people total......100, 120? etc.
I think if i invite 200 people I'm going to end up with 400 guests...right?

Re: stupid question about guest list
The BM at my RH hall said to figure 20% of your guest list will decline if most of your guests are local and about 30% will decline if you have a lot of OOT guests.
so if 20% of your guests are likely to decline you would have to invite 250 people to have 200 at your wedding. 250 x 0.2 = 50 so, 250 - 50 = 200

If you invite 200 people how can you end up with 400 guests?? Unless you send 200 invitations each inviting 2 people.

Perfect! there ya go.
they always say to be sure you can accommodate and afford everyone you invite in the crazy chance all 250 say yes!

Re: stupid question about guest list
if you're looking for how many invites, i invited 180 people - only sent out about 80 invitations b/c i had some families on some invites. so i think its the same thing i posted before, it really depends on your list and if there are like 5 person families.

Re: stupid question about guest list
Thank you ladies....this is clearer now.
I'm putting together my guestlist and now have a better idea about how many paper invitations i will send out.
if you used and excel list you can make a list of guests down in a row..then the next column can be the actual number invited...then the third can be the actual number that are coming..thats what i did....so it will look like this...
Mr& Mrs zyx 2 2 Jen Smith 2 1 (if she rsvps without a guest) John Doe 2 2 (if he brings a guest)
and so on...that way...the first column of names will be the amount of actual paper invites you need. :)
