So Ive never actually been to a wedding. Next month we have FHs cousins wedding at Leonards. Its on a Saturday night and the invitation says black tie optional. I have no fancy dresses whatsoever. And since ive never been to a wedding, I have no idea how I should dress. What kind of dresses should I be looking at?

Ok.. whats considered formal A long dress? Does that look like a BM dress though? These are stupid things going through my mind

I would say something long since its BT optional (I would think most women would be wearing long gowns and men in tuxes). Cant go wrong with black.

i think long dresses are kind of 'out'. BCBG normally has tons of great dresses - try L&T, Macys, or Bloomies for that.
Any dressy black dress will do

This is really your first wedding -- you will have a good time!
Bt does not mean you have to wear long. Long does not have to look like a BM dress. For the last few years, tea length has been very popular but this year the trends are going back to long.
simple and elegant is the best advise I can give you.
I am no expert BUT I average about 7 or so a year.

That first one comes a really nice midnight blue -- i tried it on but three stores were out of it in my size

There are lots of jim hjelm dresses that would probably work well! Some of their dresses are too much for a bm but perfect for a formal occasion IMO.....oh yeah, plz take lots of pics at leonards! And I hope you can tell me about it if it's not too much trouble!

On Lord and Taylor's website! Not sure if they have it in black. I hardly ever wear black so I don't even give it a second look!
