We are having a black tie wedding, so do I just put on the bottom of the invitation, Black Tie?

I think so, or on the reception card if you are having a separate one. sometimes I have seen,
Black tie reception 7 pm Reception hall Town, state

Ooo, I like the reception card idea. It just seems more natural. I don't like when it looks like an afterthought on the bottom of the invitation. It just doesn't stand alone that well.

are you havign your ceremony & reception int eh same palce. then you could jsut have the invitation and say . . .the marriage of x& y date, time Bourne Mansion Town, NY
Black tie reception immediately following the ceremony.
You don't have to repeat the location if its one & the same.
