We are moving to Ronkonkoma in late March/early April and I was wondering if any hospitals were better than others especially for labor and delivery..and no I'm not pregnant yet
When the time comes it will probably be another C-Section

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
Michelle,
I am not sure about labor and delivery, but there is Stony Brook Medical Center out there. I am sure it is a great hospital.

St. Charles and Mather are also good. I'm not sure about Central Suffolk Hospital- used to hear mixed reviews, but it's supposedly getting better.

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
IMO, St. Charles has one of the best maternity wards. I have an awesome OBGYN who practices out of there if you're interested.

Mather and St. Charles are both great hospitals (they are down the street from eachother in Pt. Jefferson I believe). St. Charles though has an awesome maternity ward.

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
My mom, who's a nurse, keeps encouraging me to stay with my ob-gyn who's affiliated with Stony Brook. Unfortunately, my doctor is out in Setauket and I'm in Huntington (and Huntington Hosp is less than 3 minutes away from me.)

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
Mather doesn't have a maternity ward - but my friends have delivered at both st charles and stony brook. both had good experiences -keep in mind though that Stony Brook is a teaching hospital - so my friend had an 'audience' during delivery.

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
Michelle, my RE has suggested Winthrop. It's in Nassau county, but he so highly recommends it that I'm willing to travel.

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
The hospital will really depend on where your MD has privileges. StonyBrook is great for difficult pregancies, St. Charles and Mather have beautiful labor and delivery suites. But, ask your MD where he/she has privileges.LOL

Re: Suffolk County Hospitals
St Charles , Stony Brook and Good Samaritan are all very good. Personally I would choose Stony Brook because they have a full NICU if anything happens to the baby.
