Sugar Magnolia's
I met with Heidi Jo from Sugar Magnolia's this weekend and loved her!!! She is a bit more expensive that some of the other florists I've been to but she seems to be worth it. Her design studio is beautiful. Has anyone met with her or used her?

I am using Heidi for my wedding this summer and I love her work as well. She is a little bit more money but so worth it for her design and Martha Stewart style..

I am using Sugar Magnolia's for my November 3rd wedding at The Old Field Club. I am trying to give a very fall natural look and she has such great ideas. I love her enthusiasm.

I'm a different andrea..I'm using her for my fall wedding. She is great. I had a pre-set budget and she stuck to it so I found her quit reasonable so don't hestitate you speak with her if you are on a tight budget. I did not have such a pleasant experience with other florists..... I used to work in a florist so I knew the true cost of things (labor, flowers) and I found that her creativity matched the price she can command. Good luck with whoever you go with.

Karen - this is too funny...
...I just booked the Old Field Club a few weeks ago for a Fall, 2002 wedding, and will probably use Sugar Magnolia`s as well. I guess it`s not that much of a concidence, since this in a LI board, but I haven`t met anyone who has ever heard of Old Field! My cousin got married there in 1995 and loved the place - she had no regrets or complaints. Mike seems very accomodating and helpful so far. Has the florist decided how to decorate the hall yet? I want to add something to the hurricane candles on the tables, but you can do so much with that place, the options are endless. Good luck!

Karen, I am also trying to work a fall theme into my November wedding at Fox Hollow. Can I ask what you are doing (flowers, decorations)? Any ideas we be appreciated

Church: Gold bows on the pews with two large baskets at the front of the church filled with autumn colored flowers. The baskets are great because they have handles and you can just ask somebody to take them from the church and bring them to the reception. As centerpieces I am doing a hurricane lamp with candle surrounded by a wreath of the same flowers and some berries. She is also putting mini pumpkins and gourds on the table since it is 3 days after halloween. I plan to have the fireplace lit and have the same flowers on the mantle along with large pillar candles. I am completly flower illiterate but I can check my contract and tell you the actual flower names on monday. I think I am going to have my bridesmaids wear black but I am still not sure. Any thoughts?

I think black dresses would be nice, if it is an evening wedding. I will look for burgandy, wine or any other darker color dress, but haven`t completely decided! Is your gown an ivory shade? Also, did the woman from SM know Old Field very well, or did you two have to meet there and discuss decorating options? I ask b/c I live in Nassau, and the less I have to drive out there, the better! :)

Teri, Heidi is very familiar with The Old Field Club. I actually found out about her when I went to a tasting at Old Field and I was very impressed with the flowers she displayed so I set up an appt. with her. Make sure you get out there for a tasting...I live in NJ and it was worth the trip! My wedding is a Saturday night affair and my gown is white so I think black bridesmaid dresses will look beautiful. I am just having a hard time getting past the old feeling that black is not appropriate for a wedding. I've looked for deep red/burgandy but I haven't found anything I like yet so I keep going back to black.

KarenS-
I didn`t even think to go there for a food tasting - but I might as well. My date isn`t until 10/5/02, so I have PLENTY of time to plan everything. I`m really just thinking about ideas and all that. It`s good to know there`s another Old Field bride out there now!!Welcome New Vendors
