I am making appointments to meet with Sugar Magnolias, Flowers by Burton, & Roots(flowers and treasures). I wanted to see if anyone has met with them or are using them... anything good or bad to share??
also I would love if you would share your price quotes(FM if you'd prefer) because I have no idea what to expect! I really do not want to spend a whole lot on flowers but we'll see!
I am considering ordering orchid plants online and then potting them for centerpieces because I found a great price. But i still want to get quotes for centerpieces plus bouquets ect... Thanks!

I booked with Burtons and I got a great price and I didn't even feel the need to look anywhere else.
Sugar Magnolias does beautiful work but I think they are expensive. My cousin used them in 2002 for her first wedding and the flowers were really beautiful but also very very expensive.

I also booked burtons all flowers that are in season are included in the price. So whether I get all roses or all calla lillies it is the same price. My friend just used them pic in my album. I also liked that they are only a $50 deposit.

wow! that sounds great... thats for bouquets, centerpieces, bouts... everything?? I will be happy with that price haha. is that for any flowers that are in season?
Sugar Magnolias does amazing work. I was very close to booking with them -- but then had to cut back on my budget. But definately meet with her and see if she can work within your budget. I sometimes regret not booking with them!

Re: Sugar Magnolias, Burtons, Roots....
I met with Roots...about 3 weeks ago. We loved Cori and she gave us a great price. She threw in a few things because she does a lot of weddings at my RH. However, she said she would email me the price quote and I never heard from her. I called a week later & she said that she was doing it that day but still nothing. It was a little weird. We looked at Lovin' Oven and loved them just as much as Roots. Haven't had time to drop a deposit there yet but we are booking with them.
Roots quote was like $2300-2500 for 15 tall CP on spiral base w/candles on the tables 4 flower arrangements on tall stantions for ceremony Large Flower arrangement for place card table Rose Petals on the runner Rose Petals on the CH tables Flowers for the cake 4 BM Bok My Bok 4 corsages 11 boutineres
ETA: I just received Roots quote this evening. Kind of ironic! It was a little higher than I remembered but still in our price range. Not sure what to do now. I think FH & FMIL liked Lovin Oven better. I thought Cori was very sweet and she had many great ideas. She also came highly recommended by RH.

thats funny that you just got the quote! was roots over 2500? I am a HWC bride too, so Barbara has definitely highly recommended them!

Ya it was $3280. But it's still on the low low end of our budget. I loved her a lot. However, Lovin Oven gave us such a great presentation. They practically made a centerpiece for us while we were there. She didn't show us more than pictures. It's really hard to compare. Lovin Oven was more expensive (almost $1000) but still in our budget.

Re: Sugar Magnolias, Burtons, Roots....
I am just using personal flowers because I have hurricanes for CPs, and I'm using Burton's. I'm getting my bouquet and toss, 2 MOH bouquets, 4 BM bouquets, two bouts for FH, bouts for BM, 2 GM, 2 fathers and 1 grandfather, 2 mother corsages, 3 grandmother corsages, and loose rose petals and holly sprigs for the tables, cake table, and dais for 595. Another 200 set-up/delivery charge to bring the CPs to the RH, set up the candles, petals, etc. 795 total, not bad at all!!! I am just using roses, but still not a bad price.
I also looked at St. James Florist and Hitherbrook Nursery because they're local, and their pricing was just slightly higher, not by much. Maybe worth checking them out too if you're still in the neighborhood.

Thanks Ali! If I end up ordering the orchid plants as centerpieces I will only need the personal flowers so its good to know the price range for that too. I thought about St. James and Hitherbrook but figured they would be more expensive! but if their not too high maybe I will check them out. I am still in St. James =)

No, they really weren't expensive at all! St. James was a little higher than the nursery. I was quoted for high and low CPs too from them when I was going to go that route, the high CPs in the gold spiral stands were definitely over 100 each, I want to say like 130-150, but low CPs with just roses, holly, and pine sprays were 45, so the low CPs were pretty reasonable. We just went purely low bid on the florist though, so only reason why we didn't stay local.
FYI, if you do check out the nursery at least, they only take on two weddings a WEEKEND, so if they're still available and you wanted them, I'd book it asap.
