The flowers on the cake have been sugared, which gives them a crystallized appearance. The process of sugaring helps to preserve the flowers, and keeps them from turning brown and wilting. Buttercream swags of leaves and piped bows complete the soft look of this cake.

Re: Sugared Roses.....
The flowers on my cake were sugar-paste, but they looked so REAL!
Sugared african violet flowers are really pretty too and have so many different shades of colors. I helps my brother decorate a cake for his g/f with these flowers. I dont have a pic but the cake looked so great!

I like sugar paste too! (never thought I'd say it, but I am so tired of real flowers on cake)

Re: Sugared Roses.....
When we signed the contract for our hall, we went to the room where our reception is and it was being set up for a wedding. The cake had the sugar paste flowers and I really thought they were real flowers. I got so close to the cake and still they looked real.

That looks so beautiful. I like the sugar paste flowers too but they are more expensive.
