Suggesting Poses to Photographer?

Suggesting Poses to Photographer?

I have been looking at other wedding prof pics and keeping track of poses that I really like. Is is rude to suggest certain poses and looks for pictures to my photographer? I don't want to step on his toes since he is the professional.

I'm doing a 'must have' photo list. I've seen/gotten a lot of ideas on pinterest

I don't think it's rude. If there are certain poses you want you should be able to let your photographer know. I'm going to put together a portfolio from pictures I've seen online, on pinterest or other places.

Definitely not rude! If there's something you really want, I would put it on the must-take list. I've read some of the past brides' reviews and they say they wish they had certain pics, but didn't tell the photographer. At the end of the day it's your pictures and you want to be happy looking back on them.

You are paying them...they work for you..at least that is how I look at it..just voice this to your photographer prior by saying you have a few specific poses your are interested in capturing...a true professional wont mind

I sent the photographer a few pictures I saw online that I wanted/liked and he made sure to get them all in. He said he really appreciated having a list because it makes the night go smoother and you make sure you get what you want. Also if you haven't had a e-shoot with them it gets them to know your style a little better.

Not rude, but I don't think most of the photogs really pay attention to these 'must take lists'.

I had an extensive must take list and my photogs barely glanced at it. They did take a few of my requested shots and I appreciated them, but there were many more they didn't take. It didn't bother me at all. I mean, sure they were nice photos, but I booked my photogs for a reason. Because I trust them and I enjoy their work. Would I really have wanted someone else's wedding photos with my face stuck in there? Probably not. I think it's better to let the pictures happen organically and let them be YOUR pictures.

ETA: I *would* make a list of important PEOPLE to take photos with. I did not get a photo of me and my grandma and 2 years later, I'm STILL bummed about it.

I don't think making a list is a bad idea. There are no professional photos of me and my best friend from her wedding (I was MOH) and it bugs both of us as her husband has individual photos of him and each of his GM. I would give it to them earlier than the day of your wedding and have a conversation about it so there's nothing for you to worry about on the day of. I'd have a copy with you on the day of just in case.

I def don't think it is rude at all. I just wouldn't suggest giving your photographer a HUGE list. I think that could get overwhelming. I would just have a list of who u want pix with plus some of the cool poses that u have seen and want.
