Suggestions anyone?

Suggestions anyone?

My FSIL is my matron of honor and she's plus-sized. Can anyone give me any ideas and what to do as far as her dress goes? She feels that a mother of the bride dress would be best on her.

Unfortunately, this has turned into a 3 ring circus
because my bridesmaids can't buy they're dresses until she does (i think they're more annoyed than I am at this point!)

If you wouldn't mind sharing - how 'plus sized' is she, and how old is she?

I honestly think MOB dresses tend to be matronly looking and more mature than bridesmaid dresses.

Many designers go well into the plus sizes, and have two pieces as an option.

She's 42 and she's a size 20/22 (very large bust)

I think the mother of the bride dresses make her look too old, but that's just me.

That's tricky.
I would let her chose her own dress, with your final approval.
I would suggest satin, A Line. Check out Watters and Watters. But I would give her a time limit, because it's getting a little close!
Good luck!

Re: Suggestions anyone?

Most bridesmaid designers offer plus sizes in most of their gowns. Many also have styles that are more modest - if that is what she is looking for.

I agree with Christine - MOB dresses tend to be excessively matronly (my mom is having a hard time finding a dress that isn't too matronly for her!). You could pick a BM designer and a color and have each of your girls choose their own style. This way each girl can pick out what she is comfortable wearing and what is most flattering to her body type.

Good luck

I'm trying more modest stuff, but she's got something to say about EVERYTHING I pick out!

I feel like saying 'Who's wedding is it anyway!?'
LOL

I don't want the color of my wedding to be dictated by the one dress she finds that likes - I don't think that's fair.

Why don't you pick a color and a fabric and have a dress made?

It is probably MORE cost-effective when you consider all the extra fabirc those salons insist you buy.

I would HIGHLY recommend the woman who is making my wedding dress, she is in Pt Jefferson.

a two piece with an A line skirt would be very flattering. I'm plus sized and very large busted. and was the MOH at my sisters wedding almost 4 years ago. Our dresses were two pieces and I wore a different top then the rest of of the BP. Here's a pic

David's bridal has a lot of really nice dresses and they run up to size 24.

I agree with the a-line. We have a similar situation, we're using Bill Levkoff, he has awesome dresses. Phyliss from gownfind is doing our dresses and she said she can always fudge with a dress to make it look better. That way you can still pick the color too.
