While I have never personally been here, this B&B in southern Vermont comes highly recommended. Here is the link to their site.

Reluctant Panther

I can also highly recommend several places in New Hampshire that you might want to check out. They are a bit further away but the Mount Washington Valley area of New Hampshire is a fantastic place to see the foliage.

Re: suggestions for a B&B in New England

Here are links to a couple of places that we have stayed in New Hampshire. These are in the Mount Washington Valley area. There is a lot to do there during foliage season. DH and I are going up there at the end of September and beginning of October for vacation and to celebrate our anniversary. Also there are is a whole big outlet area in North Conway and New Hampshire does not have sales tax!!!! So you can go shopping!!!

Cabernet Inn

Dana Place Inn

The Wentworth

New England Inn

This is not a B&B but it is a terrific place to stay in the area.

Lodge at Jackson Village

For some additional info try this site.
Mount Washington Valley

If you should decide to go and you want to do something really fun take a scenic railroad tour. Let me know if you would like any additional info.
