Suggestions For After Party Please!

Hi All,

I'm thinking about a daytime wedding, which would end at 5:30, and I really want to see my friends after the reception is over.

I'd like to get the friends together and I'm fine with it being extremely casual and not a 'formal' after party.

Does anyone know of anything fun to do on a Saturday night around Bethpage or I guess a 20 minute radius (maybe further if it's worth it)?

The hotel bar was suggested to me, but I can't see everyone wanting to hang out at a hotel bar all night if the reception ends at 5:30 and they are staying over.

I'm stressing about having a daytime wedding but I've heard so many of you have had great ones!

TIA!

We choose to have an afternoon wedding because more than half of our guests were OOTers and we wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. Our reception ended at 6 and then my parents rented a room in a hotel. The hotel allowed us to bring in food and beverages which was really great and one of my brother's friends set up everything for us. (Note the hotel did not have a bar/restaurant - we looked at ones that did but those would not allow us to bring in outside stuff since they wanted us to buy from them obviously and it was a fortune!). Over half of our 200 guests came to the afterparty and it was such a wonderful opportunity to catch up with people more and really get to spend time with them. Some of the guys played cards, etc. but mostly people just sat around and talked/drank and once it got later in the night, ate again. I was so happy we choose to do this.

Although my hotel wasn't near Bethpage, I definitely recommend looking at hotels in the area that may be willing to let you do the same thing!

Are there any local bars you know of that you can rent out?

hmm sorry I dont know of anything in that area to do. I was going to suggest going back to the hotel though. Some hotels even have a specific wedding after party program and menu. you can use their conference or party room and have a nice set up there. I totally understand what you're saying about people not wanting to spend so much time at the hotel but it might be easier so people dont have to drive back and forth - esp if the've been drinking during your wedding and then again at the after party. they can just go upstairs and crash. dont worry about the daytime wedding - i've been to many and had great times at all of them!

afternoon weddings are awsome don't fret about that!
Hotel bars are great!
Would you want to stay in your gown all night? I was thinking something like Dave and Busters might be a really cool afterparty. But i don't know about wearing the dress... I would do it, but if you're worried about it getting dirty i guess it's not a great idea.

or if you have a friend in the neighborhead, maybe you can throw a party at a house. have someone go and decorate to keep with the same energy and mood.

we all went back to the hotel the OOT guests were staying at, they had a sports bar in there. we had an awesome time. we had the same thing as you - reception ended at 5:30. i think we were out of the hall by 6 and at the bar 15 minutes later. we were there until around 10:30, when I was so exhausted i just wanted to go to sleep!!

Anything that involves alcohol and beer is an after party, . Seriously, def a hotel close to your RH, a friends house, you can ask your RH if you can extent hours there, RH's usually have bars so also ask if you and your friends can hang out there.
