suggestions for Manhattan wedding venues??

suggestions for Manhattan wedding venues??

One of my co-workers who lives in the W. Village is trying to find a reasonably priced venue for her wedding- she's looking to book for November/ early December next year.

Anyone have any suggestions of places she can check out?? I didn't research Manhattan at all when I was hall shopping, so I'm clueless, but figured I'd turn to you lovely ladies!

and if you have pricing I'd really appreciate if you could send me an FM with the info. TIA!

ETA: I know I should've asked her about how many guests she'd be having (I guess I still have bride brain after all lol).....but I know she has family flying in from Estonia, so from what I've heard, I'm assuming it to be at least 100 people, if not more.

I believe she's getting quotes maybe in the $160-$200pp range, and she's hoping to get a better price than that. so maybe that info helps??

There are lots of different options. How big is her wedding reception going to be etc? Lots of great spaces but depends on the size of the reception. Does she want dancing?

I think the Yale Club is 'reasonable' for NYC. Also 3 West Club....?

On the more expensive side, I'd check out Abagail Kirsch venues (known for their food) - like the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. I'd also check out Tribeca Rooftop. Again though, those I think might be more $$ than the two listed above....

Good luck!

Does she absolutely have her heart set on Manhattan? I'm a city girl, and found that places on the water on LI were sooooo much more affordable than in the city, and many were prettier too. Also, not far from Manhattan, in Downtown Brooklyn and Long Island City there are some great places -- The Water's Edge is beautiful and a water taxi away from midtown.

I researched about 20 places in NYC... more of a funky vibe (lofts, bars, clubs etc) but FM if you want some ideas

Most of the places I were looking at were in the 125-150 range

Re: suggestions for Manhattan wedding venues??

Those are the going rates in Manhattan unfortunately. FH and I had our hearts set on a city wedding but financially we couldn't swing it. Also, keep in mind that November is a very popular month and December is holiday party month in Manhattan. Most places that even have availability are super expensive around holiday time because they know they can sell their space at any time. She'll be hard pressed to find anyplace less than $150 a head that time a year. Now, if she wait until January she'll get better prices. January is one of the slowest months of the year in the hospital industry so they'll be more willing to haggle, maybe she can $125 a head....

Tribeca Roof Top

or the ballroom at Mandarin Oriental

But honestly, they could both be a lot - I'm not sure.

her family lives in Manhattan too, so I think LI is completely out.....but maybe Brooklyn or LIC isn't?

a lot of the venues in Manhattan are going to be more dependent upon the guest list size than anything else... its either like 120 people or 200 (kind of annoying for the in-betweenies)
