suggestions for Manhattan wedding venues??

Original post by HelenZ

One of my co-workers who lives in the W. Village is trying to find a reasonably priced venue for her wedding- she's looking to book for November/ early December next year.

Anyone have any suggestions of places she can check out?? I didn't research Manhattan at all when I was hall shopping, so I'm clueless, but figured I'd turn to you lovely ladies!

and if you have pricing I'd really appreciate if you could send me an FM with the info. TIA!

ETA: I know I should've asked her about how many guests she'd be having (I guess I still have bride brain after all lol).....but I know she has family flying in from Estonia, so from what I've heard, I'm assuming it to be at least 100 people, if not more.

I believe she's getting quotes maybe in the $160-$200pp range, and she's hoping to get a better price than that. so maybe that info helps??

I looked into the Tribeca Rooftop, the Grand Hyatt, & the Rainbow Room...
All of which were out of our price range for the amount of people we needed to have..But Tribeca Rooftop is gorgeous

I got married at the Yale Club. Check out my review for details. Pricing depends on what room you are using, time of year and day of the week. We had a Sunday wedding in August, which was less than a Sunday wedding in September... They may work with her on price for a winter wedding. It is a fabulous venue and my guests are still raving about it a year later!

My cousin is getting married at Stage 6 in Brooklyn in January. I have heard great things and they said it was reasonably priced.

My girlfriend got married at Loft 11 in August. I know she was trying to stick to a certain budget so I doubt if it went over $100 a head.

I looked at Loft 11 and the Westside Loft (right upstairs). I was looking at March and it was more than that. Plus they have rental fees, at least 5 K, depending on what day you get married.

I vote for The Puck building and Thomas Preti Catering!!! I have had the pleasure of working with Tom for many years for corporate events - and I actually used to work in the puck building (which he is the exclusive caterer for). I would say she def. needs to be ready to spend in the 150-160 range if she is looking at doing a blanks space. those rentals all add up quickly. but again - I vouch for Tom and the Puck building!

good luck to her!!!

Summer is off-peak time for a lot of Manhattan venues. Just something to consider.

penthouse on 5th ave, if she books a wedding there not too far in advance they actually work with you and give an amazing price, i know someone who got married there and since they booked it a few months before they got it at an amazing price, plus the place is real nice and great view of the city

Bridgewaters-again great view and depending what time of year she does it then she can get a decent price

Alot of girls mentioned places in the city so i wont repeat all of them but there are some great choices, although some on the expensive side. For example capitale and gotham hall are both pretty expensive and i know with capitale you also pay for the electricity yourself that night.

Mspotterhead suggested LIC and i agree with her, there are some great venues and its 5 mins from the city and not to mention an amazing view of the city...Tell her to look into the metropolitan building, the foundry and watersedge

Those are the going rates in Manhattan unfortunately. FH and I had our hearts set on a city wedding but financially we couldn't swing it. Also, keep in mind that November is a very popular month and December is holiday party month in Manhattan. Most places that even have availability are super expensive around holiday time because they know they can sell their space at any time. She'll be hard pressed to find anyplace less than $150 a head that time a year. Now, if she wait until January she'll get better prices. January is one of the slowest months of the year in the hospital industry so they'll be more willing to haggle, maybe she can $125 a head....

yup! we were initially thinking of November in the city and realized that it was SUPER SUPER expensive and some places even told us flat out NO b/c of the holiday parties that start in November. It's insane!
