Suggestions Needed - Engagement Gift for FH

Hello to all the FHs,

Sorry for crashing but I would like to know what type of watch a guy would appreciate as an engagement gift (to also wear it on the wedding day). I have checked out various websites like Tag Heuer, Cartier, Movado, etc. and can't seem to find something I like that he could wear with his tux. All the Tags seem big and bulky, and he already has one Movado and Gucci!!

I am thinking about a silver band with a round white face with (maybe) some diamonds on it - not too crazy with the bling bling though.

Any suggestions?

TIA!!

Re: Suggestions Needed - Engagement Gift for FH

Alright, jewlery is good for a guy. BUT If my fiance spent a couple of grand on a watch i would be kinda upset. If you are going to spend that kind of money get him what every guy wants these days. A big screen flat HD Televison. He would probably enjoy that more than a watch..

Re: Suggestions Needed - Engagement Gift for FH

I have a Mavado Esperanza because I DO NOT like bulky watches. I like watches that just lay on the wrist and you really do not know they are there.

If you have not checked it out, look into the Tag Carrera. I LOVE this watch (hint! hint! if Nic is reading). When we got enaged, she wanted to buy me 1 for Christmas but it would not have been a wise purchase while trying to pay for a wedding. It was hard, but I was being sensible.

It is not overly bulky (like many Tag's) and it dressy enough to wear in a formal setting but sporty enough to wear everyday. I love my Movado. It goes great with everything but the carrera would make me VERY happy!!

The other watch I liked was the Movado Eliro. It has a rectangle face which I liked and there are many styles (diamons, chronograph etc). Since I already have a Movado this is my second choice although I would not mind it with the diamond face. I would actually jump around for the Eliro with the diamonds!!

Tag Carrera

Movado Eliro

Hope this helps.

That is exactly what he said when I asked him what he wanted!!! I know he would enjoy it more, but he would have no where to put it right now. Plus, I want the engagement gift I get him to last him a long time.

I told him we will get the TV when we buy a house!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Thanks for your suggestions. He already has the Eliro. As far as the Carrera is concerned, I clicked on the link and noticed that it has alot of markings on the face which I am not sure if I like, but more importantly he will like.

I am planning on checking these out in person as they sometimes look different on the web. Hopefully he will come with me and I will try to get a sense for what he likes better.

Thanks again!

Re: Suggestions Needed - Engagement Gift for FH

Other things to buy:

What is he into?

Golf: A new Driver (500 or less) or even a set of Irons (700-1000)

Sports: A ticket package or autographged memorblia

Electronics: Lap Top, PC, TV etc etc etc. There are tons of things from Best Buy that I would LOVE!

He already got the gift he wanted when you said yes. I know it sounds corny but I guy spends a ton of money to buy you a ring so you already gave him back what he REALLY wanted.

Re: Suggestions Needed - Engagement Gift for FH

He is not into golf. His favorite sports teams are not in NY, so getting him season tickets is ridiculous b/c I would have to get airfare with that...lol

I got him a lap top last xmas and he has a lot of fancy electronics except for the big screen tv which i refuse to get him as an engagement gift.

This is why i resorted to a watch or maybe even a white gold or platinum chain (he doesnt wear any other type of jewelry).

The only other thing my friend suggested was taking him on a surprise vacation, which is a really nice idea, but i wanted the engagement gift to be something physical, that he can have for a long time.

Now you can see why I have a difficult decision to make!!

I appreciate your thoughts though.

Keep more ideas coming!!

Re: Suggestions Needed - Engagement Gift for FH

Try a Rolex, you can purchase them for about $2,000-4,000 with some reseach. Its something he can pass down. Extremely special gift.
