Suggestions please....hairstylists in Bayside/Great Neck?
I need to start investigating hair options for me and the BP! Any suggestions in these areas would be much appreciated.

Christie's (I think that's the name) in Bay Terrace. My friend got her hair and make up done there for her wedding. I was the MOH and also got my hair done there. They did a great job. They were recommended to me by a couple friends who go there regularly. I think they may be pricey. I was the MOH and it cost me about $75 (before tip) for a pretty simple updo and that was about 2 years ago.

I actually had one of the worst haircuts of my life at Christie's, and was thinking about giving them the benefit of the doubt and checking them out for hair...but 75 bucks for an updo without a headpiece? ACK!

A girl I worked with goes to Salon Z - she used Connie (not too sure if she's still there). They are on Bell & 35th Avenue 718-224-4444.
I wasn't impressed with Christies. I went there for a hair trial and I didn't find the woman that does wedding hair all that helpful with suggestions or alternatives. And I have not had that many pleasant experiences with the desk staff. (This is JMHO)
Edited to add a friend goes to Intercessions on Francis Lewis & is happy with them. And Nubest on Northern Blvd has a good reputation.

I was going to check this place out when I was getting married, but I found someone else first, so I have no opinion to give but they do wedding hair and makeup too:

I get my hair done at Hair on 14th, it's in Whitestone/Bayside (on 14th Ave). I use Penny, and I really love her. If you want the number, I can find it for you. I would be using her if my wedding wasn't out in Suffolk!

I go to Kragens on Francis Lewis. I'm going to talk to him soon about wedding 'do's. See if they do them and how much.

starhead: i went to hair on 14th for my cousin's wedding and Penny's partner did my hair (i can't remember her name right now...) but i will probably go there for a trial... Penny has done my hair in the past when she used to be at Mise en Plis...
tracyg--my FJ goes to kragen's for haircuts...Mickey cuts his hair...maybe i should go to her for a trial????

I use to go to Kragen's but the girl I used left and opened her own place in Bayside called Salon DeJaVu. I love her.
My FSIL works at Intersessions. Her , my other FSIL and FMIL are all going there to have their hair done for the wedding. My MOH goes to Kragens for her her hair.
All only have good things to say about both places.

I use penny from hair on 14th too.! I lived in bayside up until last year, but I still go to whitestone (havent found anyone out here yet) starhead, i am in suffolk too... Im going for a trial end of feb with penny and her partner (galactia, sp?) for makeup. I BEGGED her to come to my house that morning I am actually at the beginning of suffolk.
Misty: Intercession is good too, I used to go there and have friends that still go there. Nubust has a good rep but I have no first hand knowledge. Penny doesn't have any 'books' to see but I have been there plenty of times when she's done other brides and I totally trust her.

i know a place in Roslyn...right off northern Blvd...actually right after the viaduct.. it is called Sorel... and my sister got her hair done for my wedding there....

Her name is Rosemare( not sure of the spelling). She owns the place.
Right now I live on the Flushing/Whitestone are. Near Holy Cross HS and Carvel
