I will say it over and over again, just because a wedding is during the say on a sunday doesn't mean it isn't formal.
I would want all the men to be wearing suits at my wedding.

It's really up to the 2 of you, but as for what's customary I think that's fine.

I think slacks would be fine. Alot of brides have had their FH not wear tuxedos. There are some great looks nowawads for men. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I have the exact same time on a Sunday. My FH & GM are all wearing suits. It's YOUR wedding, if YOU want them in tuxes with tails, do it! If YOU want them in slacks and a sports jacket, then do it! It's YOUR wedding

I do not think she was talking about her own wedding. She was asking about another wedding they are attending, right>?

I have to agree here. Even if it is a Thursday night wedding (which btw is the new HOTT night to get married in NYC) that is not a call for anything less. Only when an invite asks otherwise.

It depends on the look you are going for. I agree, just because it's a Sunday morning/afternoon wedding there's no reason why it can't be formal.

DH and all the guys in the bridal party wore tuxes for our Sunday wedding.

My SIL's half brother showed up with jeans and an old ratty polo shirt to their Sunday afternoon wedding.

Personally, I would not want people coming too casual. I have a 12:30pm wedding. It's not morning but apparently, it's not the 'formal' evening wedding.

I only asked that FH and BM wear a tux. All other men (FFIL, FBIL, Stepdad, brother in law) are asked to wear a suit.

I asked my mom and sister to wear a nice cocktail dress/tea lenght dress. BM is wearing a tea lenght dress.

I still want nice photos of everyone.

If the wedding is formal than he should wear a suit, no matter what day it is. I've been to weddings on a Sat. that weren't formal and you could get away with slacks.

Its actually not appropriate to wear tuxedos in the morning- it is considered evening wear--- formal morning attire would actually be a morning suit (tuxedo shops carry them) However, you can be free to do what you want- for my sunday morning wedding fh will be wearing silk pants and silk shirt and a jacket for the ceremony only. His groomsmen will be wearing silk pants and shirt and no jacket.

I am with you on that. Why should it matter if it's day or night?

I think you dictate what kind of wedding you want no matter what the time of day. I personally dont like it when people don't come dressed up and just look liket hey are going to the mall.

If you want it to be more informal than do it but if you want black tie you can do that too its up to you.

Yeah... this is why I put formal reception on my invites... I hope this deters people from coming in kakhis and polo shirts.

I don't think this is the original poster's wedding. From the original post, it appears she was invited to a Sunday morning wedding and is trying to figure out what her FI should wear.

In answer to that question-I vote suit. If unsure, I'd always rather be a little over dressed than under dressed.
