Sunday weddings

Sunday weddings

Although we are leaning toward a holiday weekend... it's a holiday not everyone has off for. For those that are doing sunday weddings - what time are you starting up and what time are you ending? The venue we are considering is out east and I don't think I want to send my guests home after 8pm if anyone has to work the next day... I know I don't appreciate having to take off from work since my vaca time is so limited - I always go to work the next day - tired, but I go. We are talking about doing a brunch the next day which would be a monday for out of towners or whoever would like to go and has off.

We are having a sunday wedding not on a holiday weekend.. from 6:30-11:30, we figured out only a few people would have to leave early.. 11:30 works for most people..

We are having our wedding the sunday before a holiday that MOST people have off ( presidents day) cocktail hour is 6-7 and the reception is 7-12 ( we added the vienesse hour)

I agree if the next day is not a holiday ending it around 8 is the best thing to do. I also hate sunday weddings that end late b/c we cant afford to take off of work the next day but we feel bad leaving early!

ETA. FeliciaDA's wedding was on sunday and there was no holiday monday. I believe it ended at 9:30 or 10 which still wasnt that bad!

We are having a Sunday wedding, 5:30-11:30 pm. We are having the ceremony at 6, cocktail hour, buffet, and I have requested the cake be early for those who want to leave early. But the next day the RNC begins in Manhattan so lots of guests are happy to take that Monday off anyway!

Re: Sunday weddings

My wedding is on a Sunday and cocktails start at 5 with the reception going from 6-10. We figured if people wanted to come then they will come, no matter what the time. I didn't want to end it too early and have guests feel its so early what are we going to do for the rest of the day.

Am I the only one who doesn't think it's necessary to take off the day after a wedding? I think people are just too lazy to get up the next day. Plan your day around YOU and FH!
And we are doing a Sunday wedding from 7-12pm. Granted the next day is the Fourth of July, but I would have done it if it were any other Sunday, too. Let them be tired. No one says they have to get rip roaring drunk to have fun. People like to complain

Too funny, I have to admit though - I'm the biggest complainer.

Oh honey, it's ALWAY OK to be the one complaining....it's NEVER OK if someone else is the complainer

Honestly, mine is from 6pm-11:30pm, before we made that decision we asked around and no one seemed to care. If you are looking at the Vineyard an early evening wedding would probably be very lovely. I would ask them (if you haven't already) if they only have certain start times...some places are like that...especially since you are having the ceremony there too. Some places have 2 weddings on the same day so they are not flexible w/ times. Check it out!

What's nice is that on Sunday we would be the only wedding so we can arrive, start and end whenever we want. That is why we decided on it. I hear what you're saying, but I just know that I don't take off from work for these things and it is far for most people. We are planning a 2pm at this point so that our guests can be on the road by 8:30pm (after getting their cars from the valet) and most LIers will be home well before midnight. I hate going to work tired on a Monday!

We are having a Sunday wedding, we are also getting married there. The ceremony willl be at 11:30 and the rest will be from 12pm - 5pm. We had the same concern that you do but it worked out better for us and it was a little bit cheaper too. Good luck with wantever you choose to do!

We're having a Sunday wedding from 2-8, this way it won't end too late.

Re: Sunday weddings

We had the same dilemma when we were deciding on a time for our wedding. We definently didnt want a night wedding on a Sunday or a twilight for that reason...we didnt want people to get home late on a sunday night and then have to work the next day. So we decided on an 11:00am invite and the wedding will end at 5pm. We are also planning a brunch the next day...also for family (they took off from work) and out of towners who are still on LI. Hope that helps!

Agree! Our's is a sunday holiday w/e that not e/o has off the next day. But like the above said you don't have to take off (and we're ending at 12). If most want they can go into work an hour later or s/t. People will figure it out. Work your day around what you guys want.

We are having our Sunday wedding from 6-11. We are having nthe viennese, but we are doing it within the regular 5 hours. I think that 11:30 is a fair time.
