Please post your thoughts or experiences with Sunday weddings. I always planned on Saturday night but people are trying to talk me into Sunday for the available dates and big $$$ savings.
Anyway, I feel like Sunday afternoon is going to be kind of casual and laid back and Sunday night people will take it easy or maybe leave early. Either way I don't see it as being a big blast like Saturday night.
1 more thing, we can't do Friday night because we are having a Rabbi.
Thanks!

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
we are having a sunday daytime wedding--everything is over by 5 pm.
in no way do i think ppl will think it's laid back or anything like that....my family & friends will party just as hard if it's sunday daytime as it woudl be on sat. nite!
a lot of family & friends have told me they appreciate the sunday daytime so they can come all day and then head home that nite and recover before work the next day!
we were on a super tight budget, and sunday day in feb. was our best option!

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
i having a sunday night affair, and it was good bvecause we spend less per person if it was a saturday eve wedding. So it going to be formal and people will leave early, that fine with me.

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
why not a Saturday during the day???? Unless it's a holiday weekend, I wouldnt' be crazy about a Sunday wedding.... but if you do Sunday, I would do it during the day and not at ngiht.
I am having a Saturday morning Mass and an afternoon reception.
ETA: Saturday afternoon receptions were cheaper than Friday nights at every place we looked at.

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
I've only been to one sunday wedding...the ceremony started at 4:00/4:30 and the reception was from 5-10 and it was REALLY fun...I think that time frame was great because there was a nighttime feel but noone felt like they had to leave early or anything...

My wedding was on a Sunday. Ceremony at 11:30, reception immediately following. It wasn't laid back or casual because of the day/time, it was still formal and fun and rowdy. We chose afternoon over evening because we didn't want people to leave early or get home too late.
Same.
Not the same wedding, just same thoughts.
It will be as formal as YOU want it no matter what time of day it is. We wanted to spend $$ on things other than JUST the caterer so Sunday afternoon saved us some $$ so we could spend $$ on things we'd have forever like our rings & photography.

I'm having a sunday day/night wedding
My ceremony is at 1 and then my cockail hour starts at 4 and the rest of the reception is from 5-10. Sunday made sense to us because it was cheaper. I was worried about an afternoon wedding also, but it worked out for me. It is still evening, but it ends early enough that people won't really have to leave early. Just remember, the people who really love and care for you will be there no matter what time it ends! HTH!!!

I am having a sunday day wedding. I think it will be great for the guests since they can relax after the affair ends. It will be over at 5pm.

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
I am having a Sunday night too. I was worried at first, but as one other girl said, those really important to you will stay.
And I sent a save the date magnet because it was a Sunday. I figured I would give them as much warning as possible so they could take off from work if they want. I even made sure it said Sunday on the magnet so they KNEW.
My sister had a day wedding and it was still very formal. Given the opportunity to party..and people will party!

My wedding was on a Sunday. Church was 2-3, CH was 5-6 Reception was 6-10:30.
I think it was early enough that not too many left early, as if it ended later, say midnight or 1am

I'm having a Sunday wedding too! My wedding starts at 5:30pm. I was (i still am) worried about people leaving early because they would need to go to work the next day but everybody is assuring me that the people that really matter to me would stay til the end (or later) because either they a) will take the next day off from work or b) will just go in to work the next day with a hangover and suck it up! I've been telling everyone around me from like 4 years ago that i was going to get married on 07/07/07 but to go with the budget i had to sacrifice the date and do it the next day which happens to be on a Sunday!

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
We are having ours on Sunday night. We thought about doing the sat. day as it was cheaper than Sat night but the prices were crazy. So we chose Sunday night for the nightime wedding but cheaper prices and everyone i hear from say that everyone has a great time. But you have to do what you want.

Re: Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)
Our wedding is on a Sunday night, over memorial Day weekend. We didn't do a Sat night for two reasons:
1) We're also Jewish, and the rabbi won't marry us until an hour after sundown. For late spring, that means the CEREMONY wouldn't start until 8ish.
2) $$$
We've been to a number of Sunday weddings, day and night. One couple even wrote 'formal attire preferred' on their invitation! Your wedding will be as laid back or as formal as you want it to be. Put the money you save by booking a Sunday towards your honeymoon!
