Sunday Weddings (Day or Night)

Original post by Fara

Please post your thoughts or experiences with Sunday weddings. I always planned on Saturday night but people are trying to talk me into Sunday for the available dates and big $$$ savings.

Anyway, I feel like Sunday afternoon is going to be kind of casual and laid back and Sunday night people will take it easy or maybe leave early. Either way I don't see it as being a big blast like Saturday night.

1 more thing, we can't do Friday night because we are having a Rabbi.

Thanks!

I am having a Sunday night too. I was worried at first, but as one other girl said, those really important to you will stay.

And I sent a save the date magnet because it was a Sunday. I figured I would give them as much warning as possible so they could take off from work if they want. I even made sure it said Sunday on the magnet so they KNEW.

I am also having a Sunday night too .. though i dont have the day on my STD (wish i thought of that) I figure i gave people enough notice to take off if they want ... i also figure who cant handle staying up late one night and then going to work ... unless your really old ... i cant see why ... i know my *** can do it !!!

We are having a Sunday twilight, but before we decided to do that, we saw places where they could make a Sunday afternoon look like an evening and people would party it up! I say, it is a lot cheaper, especially if you want a hot month like over the summer..good luck!

I'm having a Sunday afternoon wedding, and it's OK with me that it's not a huge 'blast.' I'm not in my twenties and neither are my friends, and my family is largely my age, older people and kids. I want a laid-back, family sort of day. I'm considering it semi-formal. Yes, there will be lots of dancing and partying, and a bunch of us will probably go out for an evening afterparty. I'm very happy about having a Sunday afternoon. It's the best decision we made, other than getting married in the first place!

If you do want a huge blast with a lot of hard drinking, heavy partying, have it on a Saturday night. But you'll pay for it.

Sunday weddings make me think of outdoor formal brunches on the water- but Im also from Maine, so it is very very common there. I think sunday afternoon weddings can be very nice. It just depends on what you really want and what is most important to you. You will have more time for grup pictures after the wedding which never happens during a night wedding. And that way you don't have to take time away from your reception. (if this is even something you want to do.) People may not drink as much as they would at an evening reception- this depends on the crowd. However, if you want a formal black tie wedding, Sunday afternoon might seem weird to many people. But its your wedding so do what you want!!

If the Monday following is a holiday, you can have a later party and it will be more formal.

My wedding will be on a Sunday. Ceremony at 3:00, CH starts at 5:00, everything is over by 10:30. I dont think it being on a Sunday will make it less formal at all -- we plan on making it very formal. And its saved us TONS of money.

We're also doing sunday twilight, ceremony @ 4, CH 4:30-5:30, Reception 5:30-9:30. Never even checked on saturdays, but i've heard that saturdays are a lot more expensive. I think you cand efinitely have it as formal as you like, I've been to a black tie sunday afternoon affair and it was fabulous.

I am doing a Sunday night wedding (6-11). When we first started looking I said I wanted a Sat wedding and wouldn't compromise, then I realized how much things actually cost so I changed my mind to Friday because I felt that it would be more of a 'party' night but then I fell in love with my RH and they charge more for a Friday then a Sunday and doing it on a Sunday was the only way I can afford it.
Honestly, I have been to a few Sunday weddings and they were all really fun. I know that there are some people who will leave early but I know the people who I really care about will be there. All of my friends and family already said they are taking the next day off of work, staying in a hotel that night so I think it will be fine.

I had a Sunday daytime wedding. The cocktail room had an outdoor patio, but the reception room was dark with no windows, so it seemed like nighttime. If you want a nighttime effect, try to find a place with no windows.

I'm having a Sunday evening wedding. I've been to mostly Sunday evening weddings and everyone always had an amazing time! I'll be sending out STDs so everyone can make arrangements. There was another thread about this topic
