Sunrooms

Does anyone know how much it costs to add a sunroom?
I was just wondering. My BIL/SIL has one and I love it. Hmm maybe we can get one also.

I believe it cost our friends 50K to build their sunroom.

Re: Sunrooms

a friend of mine is remodeling her home, changing the entire layout, entry way, knocking down walls, puting in new kitchen...etc..all that for about $120K, so IMO $50K for a sunroom is a bit high...unless its a really big sunroom
you could probably add a sunroom for around 20K...are you going to get estimates? your DH is pretty handy, maybe you can do some of the work yourselves to save on the cost...

One of my girlfriends at work recently received estimates for a sunroom and was disappointed when she was told that they start at 30K. (And that was for one of those pre-fab sunrooms by Four Seasons.)

My friend's room isn't huge, probably 20x20, but I know building the foundation was a big expense.

I think it depends on whether or not you would like to use it year round? Maybe you could ask your BIL? I love sunrooms and I think they make such a great addition to a home.

My BIL's was there when they bought the house. When we go there we hang out in there all the time. They use it year round and I love it..... maybe someday we could get one. Right now, for $50K, I don't think we will.
