Hey everyone - I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to throw a small simple wedding on such a tight budget. My fiance and I decided we just don't want to spend $10,000 on one day, which I know is on the low end of wedding budgets anyway.
All we really need is a reception venue for about 100 people. Can anyone suggest venues that have low site fees and pp prices? We are going to be pretty flexible on the day and time, but we'd like it to be in April/May.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Super budget wedding help
Why don't you look into restaurants with good food that have a party room, because to be honest with you the cheaper venues usually have bad food.. Are you willing to have it in queens? Or long island?

Aside from above, a KOC hall? That's all I can think of.

try doing a cocktail party instead. just make sure the guest know its a cocktail party and not a dinner. went to one. people went out and brought back McDonalds cause they were starving.

This! or maybe brunch and definitely just inform your guests ahead of time that it wont be a full course meal they will be getting. You can indicate it on your invites like, 'join us for brunch after...' HTH

we did this for 60 people for my moms bday and total with food (got from a restaurant, did buffet style) was like $2500. The place was nice, kinda small but had a room that could serve as a cocktail room and a room that could serve as a reception room. not sure if they would fit 100. it was all painted pink... but im sure with some creative decorations it could work.
This was the KofC in East northport.

what about ariana waterfall or the sterling in bethpage? you can look into the all inclusive packages....i also dont think that just because a place is cheap the food is not good, but having a day wedding definitely helps bring down the cost in my opinion...good luck!

Re: Super budget wedding help
I had a similar issue. I ended up going over my initial budget because I am planning the wedding on a short time frame and from out of town (so I couldn't handle all the details for doing something that would require any kind of setup), but there are places that, especially during the day, will do $50-$60 pp which will get you all food/drinks for five hours. Larkfield Manor quoted me that for a daytime wedding, so did Sunset Harbour. I think Larkfield Manor will be closed in April/May, but it can't hurt to try Sunset Harbour. I think my step-sisters were married in Rock Hill Country Club and East Wind, and I think both of them were able to pay about $5000 or less a few years ago. (I think they both did the cocktail party with hors d'hoeurves)
But also, people are right about doing it yourself. If you find a place with a really cheap rental fee - Bailey's Arboretum comes to mind or a smaller museum or any regular event space that can be decorated - you can find very cheap catering on Long Island to match it.
Good luck! But definitely check the reception location guide and call up the places that have prices around $50-$60 pp - if you're not stuck on a Saturday evening wedding, they may be willing to come down by maybe cutting down the menu or something.

I'm having my ceremony at my church. Did you like the wedding there? I'm so nervous because its not a big catering hall.

Re: Super budget wedding help
We visiting Stewart Manor Country Club which was very reasonable. At the time we were considering their winter package which included alot (even a Sat. night) for a very affordable price. Keep in mind that April kind of kicks off the wedding season and when prices start to climb. You may want to consider Nov. - March to try and keep costs pp down. Good Luck!

Re: Super budget wedding help
We found a wonderful place called Ariana Waterfall in West Hempstead. They only hold 1 event at a time (the food was great). We are already looking into it for our wedding. They have packages starting at $45 per person. And it is a beautiful place too. I highly recommend it.
