Re: super sad!
Meg - I know EXACTLY how you feel. I left my house of 20+ years last year (well, I didn't leave...but my parents did....) and it was REALLY hard. The first Christmas sucked. But now, I'm JUST getting used to it.
To this day, I still can't drive by my old house. I'd start to cry!

Re: super sad!
Hey..I'm in almost the exact situation! I thought it was just me that felt that way...my parents have their house on the market. Secretly I am hoping no one wants to buy it...I still come here to hang out b/c FH works nights so he sleeps during the day...

Re: super sad!
OMG my parents lived in our house 30 years in April 2007...I went to FH's house the other day (actually last Sunday) and I was literally bawling over the house being on the market. Developers are also looking at our house because we too have property to build on. It's hard to leave your house because you have so much history there.

But on a happier note, that last post changed my status from wedding newbie to board enthusiast! Yay!

Re: super sad!
woo!! yea mine are selling cuz of financial reasons and their getting older and dont want to have to take care of all the land. its HUGE! and once i move out its just the too of them no need for a huge house anymore. the new house is just as nice and a bit smaller and they are nice enough to make the upstairs into an apt for FH and i so that we have a place to live for not too much money!

Re: super sad!
In my mind, I've already been wondering if I could convince FH to move into the apartment of my parents house...I don't think he'll go for it though. It *****...it's good to move on with your life but it's hard to let go...does that make sense?

Re: super sad!
I can totally relate, My parents divorced in 2000, but didnt sell the house til summer of 2004, which was a few months after my grandfather passed away. I was going to live with my father and his girlfriend, they made an apartment for me. But when FH realized that we would be apart he manned up(i love that saying) and got us our own apartment.
Its true, its hard to move on, but in a way its neccessary to move on in order to grow.

Re: super sad!
aww it's such a cute house I can see why you're sad. BUT you are moving on with your life and are going to start a whole bunch of brand new memories with your family and your FH and your new additions ( ) one day. Think of all the new memories that are soon to come, it's exciting.

Re: super sad!
I feel exactly the same way. My Great grandfather built our house back in 1920something. It was one of the first houses on our block. My grandfather and my dad grew up here as we all did. My dad is getting engaged and plans to sell the house. It depresses me that I wont be able to take pictures in the house i grew up in and with the market of the area, the house will probably be torn down to make a 3 family house

Re: super sad!
It'll be OK Meg! It sounds so cheesy but it's a family that makes a home. You will fill your new home with tons of new memories!
PS... I've seen your house on MLS and it was always one of the ones I emailed to my FH... not that we're buying a house, but it's always fun.
