A question specifically for the ladies since football tends to divide the genders in an annoying way!
How many of your husbands/fiances/SO watch the Superbowl? Is it like a religion for them? Are they completely uninterested in it?

Re: Superbowl Question & Poll
Yup, my DH pretty much considers watching football a religion. So, needless to say, he is counting down the hours till Sunday. He actually gets a little depressed when football season is over.

He doesn't watch football all that much during the season....but when the Superbowl comes around....he NEEDS to watch it!

Re: Superbowl Question & Poll
Mr Boots hates football, hates basketball, and is indifferent to baseball!
He luuuuuuuurves hockey, but doesn't really follow it. He loves cycling, motorcross and rallye racing, but I so win on this because those sports are only broadcast at 4 am for like 3 weeks a year!
ETA: last night at dinner I asked who was playing in the game on Sunday? He looked at me and said 'What game?' 'The Superbowl, dingus!' 'Oh, I don't know, one of the Carolinas or something.'

DH watches football, but I think it's mostly an excuse to drink beer and grunt with other males.

Mr Boots watched it last year, but only paid attention during the half time show (when Janet Jackson went boobular). It was like he felt this bizarre sense of duty to watch it since he's a guy.

Rally Racing? Tell him that Clay just bought a Lancer Evo. I'm sure Mr. Boots will tinkle in his pants! Clay wants to move to Colorado so he can compete in the Pike's Peak thingy.
Oh yeah, and he doesn't really care about pro football but he'll watch the SuperBowl. He lives and breathes college football and basketball. Our dog is named Bama and I'm sure he'll want to name our first male child Big Al (the mascot). (I still want Niblet!)

Re: Superbowl Question & Poll
I think my DH mostly watches because he feels that, as a guy, it's just an obligation. He doesn't follow football at all the rest of the season but he acts like he's been waiting for the Superbowl his whole life. It's pretty funny.
I think he watches it with about as much interest as I do.

Mr Boots wants to go to Greece for the HM just so we can catch a race...ooooh, fuuuun! And he has a Ford Focus which is one of the rallye (sp?) cars, and he drives it like one, only it's a 4-banger with an automatic transmission!
As much as I love Niblet, Big Al would be awesome because it's straight out of that Skee-Lo song 'I Wish'!!

I'm especially pleased with the 3 people who responded that their DH/Fh watches the Superbowl 'out of spite!!'

Re: Superbowl Question & Poll
hmmm...mine thinks it's a little strange that there are all these guys suited up in plastic armor who only get to run about 12 feet at a time before some little man blows a whistle He'd much rather watch rugby (frankly, so would I, but don't tell him that!)
He would dutifully attend my parents' super bowl party every year though because A) there was food and B) he works in advertising, so he thought he could expense his LIRR stubs as research But, really it was just about the food. Janet's boob was just a bonus for him.
Oh, and Liz, guess who knows all the words to the Canadian national anthem because she spent her entire childhood in a hockey-induced coma?? This same girl (or her brother ) still has a Ken-like Wayne Gretsky doll sans skates, stick, pants, one glove and the emblem that used to be on the jersey, but with an additional drawn-on mustache and partial feet courtesy of Thumper the bunny...

Re: Superbowl Question & Poll
Mine watches it sometimes, but not religiously. He'll watch the big games and order pizza with me but he doesn't freak out if I change the channel or anything. He's kind of in between the first two poll choices. Like, I don't need the jaws of life to get him off the game watch, but he is more than vaguely aware of football.

Have, Liz, HAVE!!!!
Actually, it was my brothers...but only when he wanted to admit that he had a doll.
We recently took a picture of it though, because I keep sayign that SEb's brother looks like him, but he didnt' really know who he was, so I had to show him...I don't think it's been scanned though...
hmmm, hard to see the Wayne Gretzky-ness in this pic...but you get the idea
DH asked me to make appointment at h&r block for sunday night, since it will be empty. He would look more foward to extreme home makeover
eta: DH went to superbowl in tampa, he was most excited that britney spears was half time show

I think our FH's were seperated at birth. Besides the Hockey my FH loves and loathes all the same sports. He likes Hockey but doesn't love it.
