I'm from Poland, lived here for 18 years. My parents are polish too, and my mom keeps spewing these incredably ridiculous old wives tales. My favorite so far is that you need an odd number of BM.

You need something old, new and blue..You can't see the groom before the wedding, groom can't see the dress...I have heard so many.

Odd number of bridesmaids...I never heard that one before, but that's great, because now i do have an odd number of bridesmaids. One backed out a couple of days ago and didn't even give me a reason. Better luck for me now, I suppose.

Rain on your wedding day is good luck and a sign of a blessed marriage (I was praying for rain and was soooo happy when it started pouring! )

My mom always tells me about the pearls and she won't let me wear them..
and as for the rain on the wedding day.. Personally I don't think anything worse can happen.. (the grounds at WB are where we are taking pics and if it rains, I don't know where else to go for pictures)

Same thing with the rain...That if it rains...its God pouring his blessings on you(I prefer it not rain anyways, and he blesses me in another way, but maybe this came about so that brides felt better if it did rain)
I can't have any red roses because apparently that will represent blood and turmoil in my marriage (mom is dead set on this)
No No on pearls.
I currently have 10 bm's...mom is begging me to cut one or add another, she's another one with that odd number superstition.
