I just got off the phone with my parents who told me that my father's cousin who has been like an uncle to me for years died this afternoon. He had cancer of the esophagus which had spread to his lungs and kidneys. He had been trying to hold out long enough for his daughter to have her baby (the baby is due next week) but he just couldn't hold out anymore and took his pain medication and went to sleep and never woke up. They had originally told him they thought he had 6 months to a year. I had spoke to him recently and he told me he was holding out for his grandson to be born and to come to our e-party since he didn't think he would make it to our wedding. Holidays will not be the same now - he came to our house for every easter, thanksgiving and christmas without fail.

thank you - what was so sad was that he was trying to hard to hold out long enough to see his grandson born - but the pain was too much and his daughter had to tell him it was ok to let go.

Girls thank you all very much for your prayers. We are all very upset b/c we didn't get to see him (he lives in Chevy Chase) before he passed.
