I just got engaged. I live in LI, as do most of my family and friends. Most people I know were married in Long Island or Queens. I therefore, wanted to have a wedding at a unique location. I'm thinking of the surf club. I plan to go there next week to meet with them. Does anyone have experiences with them? Any advice in terms of bargaining the price? Any advie what to ask for particularly with this hall?
I have no idea what to expect.

Re: Surf Club anyone?
I love the surf club. I thought it was so pretty. The price I got was somewhere between $140-$170 for December '08. He seemed to be pretty firm on the price. But we decided to go somewhere else so we never tried to get the price down. It is so pretty. I think they are going to be doing some renovating soon so make sure you ask about that.
Good luck and congrats....:)

Re: Surf Club anyone?
Hi, when I checked with the Surf Club back in June for a Saturday in Nov/Dec '08 witha minimum of 120 people they quoted me $130pp. It's a nice place and I've been to weddings there that were lovely. I don't know when you are planning your wedding but if it's in the late fall/winter you really won't be utilizing the outdoor cocktail area with the sea view. there are oher nice places in that area that I thought were just as nice or more so that were similar in price. Beckwith Pointe is very nice and I believe was recently renovated. I also think Marina del Rey is nice with great views and theRiverview (on the Hudson) is nice. JMHO though.

Re: Surf Club anyone?
I was at a wedding at the Surf Club in June, it was great. I agree with the above poster about the outdoor cocktail hour....it would be a shame not to be able to use that with it being right on the water and all......I think that's the best part. But it was nice regardless. There's a ton of places on that road as well. Greentree, VIP, Beckwith Pointe, Fountainhead, Glen Island..... Good Luck!

Re: Surf Club anyone?
I am getting married there on April 19th. It is a beautiful place....I had great service with them until I was informed in August that they needed to move my wedding date because their renovations would not be completed for my original date of March 15th. It was a real shock to me because when I had signed the contract with them last January, they never informed me that they were renovating. You could say I was really pissed off because I had everything booked. Luckily I was able to change all my vendors without any problems. Jamie the BM is great to work with and he was able to throw some extras into my original contract which made me happy! THe site is beautiful and full of photo oppurtunitiies. I would check them out! THe VIP down the block is also very nice too.....good luck in your search!

Re: Surf Club anyone?
I forgot to mention...most of the places will bargain with you if you pick off months...like Jan - March. Look at the lowest menus that they have to offer and see what you want to add on....of course you can bargain with them but be firm and steadfast...try not to budge!
