Anyone NOT having a surprise shower? I wasn't sure if I wanted it to be a surprise and my BM suggested I could know when it was but let them pick everything else. My mom is not always in the state so it would be either a huge surprise (like I wouldn't know she was coming here for it) or I would be able to figure it out because it would have to be for when shes' around anyway. So basically I'm not sure which I want to do.

I'm a control freak so I really don't want a surprise shower. I already told my mother the theme I want and everything (which BTW this isn't happening until next summer). I'm trying to let some control go... But it's not very easy lol

Haha I was just thinking about that, I HATE surprises, so I would want to at least just know the date so I can have my hair and makeup done and not show up in sweats lol!!
Everything else can be a surprise i just want to know when :)

I agree with both of you! I'm a total control freak. But I may do what my BM suggested and let everyone pick the theme, location, etc. But... sometimes I see such great ideas for creative locations and I just want to tell everyone to do that! haha glad I'm not alone!

I definitely would like to know the date.... actually I'd have to know the date haha. I work on the weekends (when showers normally are haha) and I'd like to be dressed and hair/make up done appropriately for the shower!

I am a control freak also!! However, I am giving this all to my mom - I am hopeful she can pull it off lol I don't mind being surprised as long as I am dressed appropriately! I don't wanna be going to my shower in leggings & a sweatshirt!

I don't know what's going to happen with my Bridal Shower. I was just talking to my MOH about this yesterday. My MOH is my older sister who is pregnant and happens to live in AZ. So, I don't expect her to travel to NY before the wedding.
My mom and grandparents live in FL. So...unless they travel up here or I go down there before the wedding..
I'm not sure if FMIL would be willing to throw me a shower in NY. I do have 2 BMs here in NY. I don't want to assume that someone is going to throw me a shower.
When my older sister got married, she traveled to FL and we threw her a shower there.
I probably won't say anything to anyone and just see what happens. I'm not planning to travel to FL before the wedding. I'm saving all of the money we can.

We have a really similar situation! My parents will be in NY but not all year so it'll either be obvious when the shower will be or a huge surprise if my mom comes up here without me knowing. I think I may just not have a surprise because i hate surprises but let them all plan it so that part is a surprise. I'm not sure. I'm glad I'm not alone though in hating the surprise part of it!!

My mother and bridal party are planning my shower. I'm sure they will try to keep it a secret, but knowing me I'll find out somehow. Last night I told my bridal party that I would like a 'Love is Sweet' bridal shower with a candy bar. My sister joked and said something along the lines like you're telling us how to plan your shower? We were all hysterical.
