First of all your maid of honor or mon will make sure you don't show up in sweats somehow. If that is teh only reason you want to know when it is than I would just talk to your girls and explain it to them.

I will not know when mine is but I know my girls would make sure I thought I was going somewhere where I would look presentable

I feel the same...I want to know, because I'd want to look better at my Shower..then say someone else's shower

And, I don't like to be surprised...I'm a dork when it comes to reactions and facial expressions and all that..and I kinda get anxiety sometimes..

But at the same time, it's traditionally a surprise and I like that idea...Plus I'm a control freak and would try to take over if I knew about it.

But, FH can't keep secrets, so I told my mom not to tell him when it is, because he'll tell me.

Re: surprise or not????

I already know when mine will be....I live out of state, and my job is such that I work on weekends a lot, especially in March-April. I work in Student Life at a college, and am responsible for all weekend programming, and the end of the Spring semester is our busiest time.....I also don't really like surprises! The shower will be on LI b/c that's really the only way it makes sense for all the guests and planning purposes, so my mom & MOH discussed it and were thinking of trying to surprise me on Easter weekend, but I basically told them I would rather know when it is so I can be prepared for it, since travel is involved and basically I should never leave on weekends so I need to know in advance.....as a result, the shower will be April 5!

I don't really want to know anything else about it, but at least this way I can plan for it and make sure there aren't any events that weekend that I absolutely NEED to be at!

My family odesn't live on Long Island so I had to tell them where I wanted it. I really don't need to be surprised! The surprise will be who give me which items off the registry!

i agree...my moh also said that she will bring some dresses of mine or dressy clothes for me to change into just in case. But i am not worried, if fh or anybody tells me on a sunday especially around morning time or early afternoon to go somewhere then ill always make sure to dress up lol. I dont want to know at all, i want to be surprised

Re: surprise or not????

I planned most of my shower - I HATE surprises. Like you said, we all know we are having one, so why be 'surprised'. I knew what I wanted and my mom was paying for it - not my BMs. So my mom wanted it done exactly how I wanted it and included me in the planning. I had an amazing time, and was not ever stressed about showing up in sweats. I got a new dress and had my hair and makeup done. For me, knowing was the way to go!

I didn't want to know - and everyone knew I didn't want to know but I'd freak if I showed up looking all bummed out, so I was sent an 'invitation to a surprise bday party' for my aunt that was being held in a hall.... so of course I dressed up for it.

It all worked out. If you tell them how you feel, it'll help them figure out how to get you out of the house and there in a way that makes it appropriate for you to dress up.

Re: surprise or not????

Well I was an evil MOH. When my sister got married, we were painting the house and I told her to take a ride with me to a restaurant to pick up food. She was covered in paint from head to toe and was wearing shorts and a ripped t shirt. I was nice though, I had my mom bring her a change of clothes.

I didn't know when mine was but my mom bought me a new outfit to wear. I didn't change because I didn't want to leave the party.

I don't want to know where we are going or to have any help in the planning but I would like to know so I dress appropriatley instead of being in my sweats!

i want to be surprised. i'm never ever surprised, so this is one thing that i want to be a surprise. i know my MOHs will not spill the beans, and i'm hoping FH will not. so far he's been good, but i think i may have figured out the location, because whenever i suggest eating there, he gets really quiet, then says he's not interested, although i know he likes the menu.

My mom will prob want to surprise me but I am going to know of it so it wont really be a surprise. Its not really a surprise when you know its going to happen close to your wedding day.
