Re: Sushi anyone
I LOVE Sushi! Unfortunately, FH doesn't. I do get it from time to time though. Shiki is a great Japanese restaurant overall.
Allure- definitely go with someone who knows about it your first time. That's how I got into it. They can steer you away from some crazy things you may not like.

Suz,
Does your husband like Chinese food? The restaurant I get sushi at has a full Chinese menu. There are many restaurants around like this now. It makes it easier to take 'picky' people out when you want sushi. It is also a good way for 'newbies' to get into sushi. You can order a cooked meal and pick from those around you who have sushi.

Re: Sushi anyone
I like it, but I have to really be in the mood for it. I love the california rolls.
There is this cute little place in downtown Manhattan on Broadway called Dakashati (sp I am not sure about) Sushi. They have the greatest.
I havent had sushi in a while. FI hates it. He calls it bait. So if I have it, its usually when I am in the city at work

Re: Sushi anyone
Melissa: I think it's because the fish is not cooked and it may have some bacteria in it that may be harmful to the baby.

FH and I are obsessed with Sushi.I must of had it 3 times in the past week. What's everyone's favorite rolls? I like the Mexican roll and shrimp tempura roll.

Re: Sushi anyone
as I understand it:
because the bacteria/parasites that may be in the fish could be harmful to the baby. Since the fish is not cooked, they could still be present.
Hey... I love sushi and I'm pregnant and I eat sushi...I just stay away from anything that's not COOKED , but the cali rolls, ebi, eel, all the stuff that is cooked is fine.
I won't eat the Sahimi (sp?)

Re: Sushi anyone
Pregnant women also should not eat soft white cheeses (brie, ricotta maybe?) because of the possibility of listeria poisoning. They can eat mozzarella though....
I LOVE sushi! All of it except eel. Cannot stomach eel.
