Re: Suzanner...

Oh my god- where am I? I'm in some metaphysical bridal vortex where nothing gets done, and all I can hear is my mom's voice echoing through the non-space, saying:

SUZAAAAAAAANNNNE, WHYYYY are these invitations black?? Is this a FUUUUUUNNNeral???

So, yes, I got my invites, and they're black. So sue me. So now I hate the labels I made for them, so I went to MyGatsby (awesome, by the way), to get some new ones made. And because I'm panicking because my MOM's panicking, I spent $30 to overnight them. $30 on a $45 order. Is that CRAZY?

So in response to my mom's rantings about my death-like invites, I figured, why not add some sparkle. Hey, it's not usually me, but why not. So I picked this cute color - Punch- it's sort of a pink/purple mix with some metallic sheen. I thought she'd be pleased.

Instead?

SSSUUUUUZZZZZANNNNNEEE, this is NNOOOOTTT a sweet sixteen! WHAT are you DOING???

At this point, for spite, I'm thinking of putting a Hello Kitty pic on there. Or these awesome Mr. T stained-glass stickers. I mean, how funny would that be?

SUUUUZZZZZANNNNEEE! This is NOT a joke.

No, mom, the joke was that I was going to use a Mr. T sticker. She didn't even get that I was joking.

This is all in response to an earlier idea I had to use a great violet-blue ribbon and tie the invites. Of COURSE the black/blue combination

LLOOOKKKSSS LIKE BRUISES, SUZZZZANNNEE!

So that was a no go. Then she was begging me to tie a white ribbon around the whole thing. No. And then she said SHE'll do it. Are you serious? She's not in the best condition anyway, and the last thing I need is for her hands to palsy up from tying all my invites. And I'll never hear the end of it.

So I just ordered the classic metallic ecru printable paper with a black background. I don't care if it's funerally. I just can't think about it anymore.

And sorry for my absence- I've been on a mad kick with this wedding stuff, and in a mega-panic, so it's consumed my day. The good news is, I booked my limos and switched my hotel block, so I'm THRILLED. Now all I need is an officiant, to lose 80 lbs in 2 months, and feet that aren't the size of platypus flippers, so I can fit my dogs in a shoe that doesn't look like a kayak, and I'll be happy.

Wait, I also need BM gifts, tuxes, because I don't want FH to pick out a horrendous ruffled horror tux, favors, shuttle service, veil, jewelry, spanx that don't roll down, thus creating additional fat rolls,

is that it? I don't even know anymore. all I DO know is I'm going to Barrons this Sunday, and I HOPE I find something.

I missed you too!! Have to write a vendor rave now. First have to eat my lunch, which is cheese. Don't be jealous. I know you are.

I feel your pain! I wanted black invites sooooo bad and my mom said the same thing 'this is not a funeral' and of course my FH forgot what side he was playing on and agreed with her.

Now that we are looking at invites he keeps saying he really likes the black one.

So for spite I'm NOT letting him get the black invites. He should have agreed with me in the 1st place but he didn't so now they will be the most frilly, girlie, sparkly invites hes even seen!

Re: Suzanner...

I'm telling you, put Hello Kittys on there, and he'll NEVER disagree with you again.

And it's not like the invites are black themselves (which IS what I wanted in the first place, but didn't get), they are a pearl color invite mounted on a black folder. I'm going to try to take a pic later and post them. I think maybe the font and the 'monogram' motif-thing I got on top may make it look more funeral-like than it is.

And BarbieGirl, I forgot to quote it, but

He forgot what team he's playing for?

Awesome.

Can we assemble all of your posts and publish it in a book? Then you could add commentary after your wedding day.
