I am going to meet w/ Joe on May 15 to choose our menu and cake and all. I spoke to Joe the Banquet Manager yesterday, and learned that the Swan Club bakers cannot do fondant cakes; they only do whipped cream. Does anyone have pics of previous SC wedding cakes (that were actually baked there and not brought in from somewhere else?). I am gonna post on the 07 & 06 boards, too, I think!

Re: Swan Club Brides - Cake??
WAIT just whipped cream, what about butter cream at least that can be rolled and smoothed out to look similar to fondant plus whipped cream doesnt hold up well in heat

I am PRETTY sure that he told me they only do whipped cream. I am not thrilled but then again, I am not a huge cake person. I swear, if I could, I would bring in Carvel cake for us

Just be careful who you get reviews from about the cake at the Swan Club...If I'm not mistaken, they changed bakers a year or so ago. From what I've heard, the cakes look and taste much better than they used to.
The cake is not that important to me so I didn't want to spend the extra money on getting one made somewhere else, although after I see Denise's, I might change my mind.

Well I will let you know what Joe says after we meet with him May 15. I know we won't get to taste the cakes, which also stinks! We'll see what happens!

I know what you mean. I am so bummed about the cake! I got to see pics the last time I was there and they are nothing special at all! I was really disappointed. Also, we don't even get to do a tasting. It blows. We didn't have our menu meeting yet. I am considering getting a cake from elsewhere, but they are so expensive!!!!!!!! I don't know what I will do. Please fellow swannies let us know about your cake experiences. Thanks!
