Swan Club vs. Westbury Manor

Swan Club vs. Westbury Manor

Hi, I am new to this board and would like some help choosing a location.

We are looking to get married in late August 2004 and need a place that has a nice ceremony area. After searching for the 'perfect' place we have narrowed our search to the Swan Club and Westbury Manor.

Swan Club is stunning but we are concerned about the service. We have spoken to two of their banquet managers who both failed to assure us of a 'worry free' wedding day.

Westbury Manor seems to pay incredbile attention to detail with regard to food, service and presentation. Almost as beautiful as Swan Club, but not quite.

Does anybody have experience with both of these places to help us choose???

I can't help you with the Swan Club but have been to two weddings at westbury manor and they have been incredible (one friend who got married there is a chef so you know it had to be good!)

Hope this helps!

I live near the Swan Club and have been to a bunch of functions there when I was in high school. I would definitely go with the Westbury Manor. I think it is nicer.

I prefer the Westbury Manor personally. Its owned by the Scotto Brothers who have an excellent repuation for service.

I've never been to a wedding at either, but I did look at both when I was searching for my hall. They are both really beautiful, my second and third choices, actually. I think I prefer the Swan Club though. I just had a better feeling there. The man that helped me at Westbury seemed almost too businesslike to the point where he was just going through the motions of showing me the place and then giving me a contract to sign. I thought Swan Club was more personalized attention. I don't know if that helps or even makes sense, but it was just my experience. Both places have gotten fabulous reviews though.

I am getting married at the Westbury Manor in June of 04 and I chose it because of the Scotto reputation. I know the food and service will be excellent and the grounds are gorgeous. I have been to affairs at the other Scotto locations and loved them. I have never been to the Swan Club so I can not comment on that one although the pictures I have seen are beautiful!

I do prefer the Westbury Manor (I got married there), I did not see the big halls in the Swan Club, but the smaller one, has too low ceilings, plus I kind of did not like their 'if rain' plan; it might happen that if it rains, the ceremony and the cocktail hour are in the green house, and for that they take you out, organize it, and bring you back ... in the WM if it rains, the wedding is done in another room different from your cocktail hour.

Good luck!

Those were my top two choices too!! They both have beautiful grounds and I have been to a wedding at Swan Club in the past. I chose Westbury because their attention to us was incredible and the surprise tasting was great!!!! As a wise person on these boards told me, go with your heart, you'll always choose wisely!!! Good luck.

I like both places. However, we felt that the Swan Club was to out of the way and the morons of our guests would get lost. Personally, I would choose Westbury Manor. Scotto Brothers facilities are really good and you won't have any problems.

CW - I felt the same way about my guests getting lost!!! Are we having the same guests at our weddings???

Re: Swan Club vs. Westbury Manor

I have to admit that I really loved Swan Club's scenery and almost booked, however I ended up heaing not so great things about food, service, andc cleanliness. Westbury Manor would have been a choicefor me except FH's sister had her wedding there. I had neverbeen there for a wedding but My FH raves about it. They are Scotto Brothers owned (owners of Fox Hollow, Windmill, Chateau Briand) and they are definetly trustworthy and do an incredible job. People do love a beautiful settng, but when it boils down to it food, service, and cleanliness leave lasting impressions over appearanc. Good luck making your decision

P.S. Just my opinion and what I have heard- I hope not to offend anyone.

Being a Scotto Brother bride myself, I would chose the Westbury Manor. I just had my wedding at the Fox Hollow and I have to tell you the service and food were incredible. They have a great reputation and I think you really can't go wrong with them.

Like some of the others have said, I've heard mixed reviews on the Swan Club. The only bad thing I've ever heard about Westbury Manor is space in the room. If they tell you it holds 150, plan on it holding 135-140.

Good luck with your choice.

Re: Swan Club vs. Westbury Manor

I have been to weddings at both...and I thought the Swan Club was better...as for food...DH said the salmon was fantastic...(I ate the veggie meal...so not much to comment on)

but I love the scenery!!!

the ceremony for both weddings was there...and it is tough to tell, b/c it was raining for the swan club one...but it was very nice still...andoutdoors...

at the WM...the peacocks wouldn't stop screaming...although that was prety funny

Re: Swan Club vs. Westbury Manor

I have never been to either places but have spoken to the banquet managers from both places when i was looking at halls. I did not like the person at the swan club. He was really rude and nasty over the phone. If this is how he is over the phone what would he be like in person. He just seemed like my calling him and asking him about dates was annoying to him. Like I was taking him away from something.

Westbury manor was very nice with me over the phone. I dont know why I never went out to see them.
