Fh and I went to one of my friends weddings at Swan club last night. For anyone getting married there, I thought the food and service was very good. The scenary outside was gorgeous even in dead cold winter. The room we were in (i think it was the smaller room) was alittle too small and we did not have enough room to dance. I think she had about 140 and it was too packed and uncomfortable, but everything else was great.
ok, on my way to check out stefans today...let you know how that goes...

Was it the smaller room on the main level?

There were two rooms on the floor we were on. We were on the main level. I am guessing we were in the smaller one. It looked like the other room was larger, but I did not really go in because there was another wedding going on.

I've never really enjoyed Swan Club weddings. . .been to two in the same room (the one with the enclosed CH patio). Never have been really impressed. Dance floor was super small. I do enjoy the gazebo, however. . .FH and I took a 'walk around' and excused ourselves to the gazebo during the last Swan Club wedding we went to. NO, WE DIDN'T DO THAT!!!!!!!!! It was very pretty. Overall, however, our impression of the reception made us cross Swan Club off of our list of possibilities.

Re: Swan Club wedding last night....
I had a bad experience when I went to see the place. The BQ was not very nice, open or friendly. Also i didn't like the room we would of been in... it was small and where I would of been sitting was shoved way in the corner with awkard mirrors around me...super close too. The room was just off center... and the colors of the room didn't go with the look I was looking for. The CH room was nice but you had to walk through the reception room to get to it. The grounds are the most amazing thing about the place. The grounds are georgous! I wasn't too impressed with anything else.... and it wasn't a question. This place wasn't for us. I could write more but I'll stop at that. I don't mean to offend anyone who has booked them.

I think the room they showed us was the room you were in for the weddings you attended there. Was it like forest green and burgundy with creme colors? and a mirrored wall? Also small dance floor and the tables were all to the left of where you would be sitting. Basically the tables were to the left of you and to the right was a big huge mirrored wall. Directly infront was the dance floor and on the opposite side was the doors to enter the room. there were also random columns in the room where the guests would be sitting? I wondered if they obstructed some views.

A friend of mine had a wedding here about a year ago. The grounds were really nice.... and the CH was nice- food was good. But the food during the reception, I did not enjoy..... neither did anyone else at my table. We found the steak to be rough and didnt enjoy it at all....

I think the original post was directed at girls who ARE having their weddings there... not an invitation for everyone else to jump on the bashing bandwagon.
Let's try to remember the old saying, 'If you have nothing nice to say...'

I wasn't jumping on a bashing bandwagon. I was posting my truthful and honest experience I had there. It was along with topic. I didn't say it was an awful place and don't go... but I did say it wasn't for us. And I have a right to say that. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I know people who have gotten married there and love it. To each theirown. We are entitled to our opinions... bad or good.. and if I were booking anything with anyone I would like to hear the bad and good they had to say.

I could understand that. But you booked a place for a reason. You fell in love with your place for a reason... so dont let other peoples opinions influence you negatively. If anything take the negative things anyone else might of said and turn it into a positive... if it were me and i read this.. I would read each thing that someone said something bad about and I would try to come up with a solution for it.... away to make that better (that is if I agreed with what they said). I read a negative post about my place too.... but I didn't say anything to the people for posting about it... instead i was glad i learned about it. If it's a situation that I think i would need to address with them.. I'd rather hear about it beforehand than during my wedding. I'm sorry if it came across as bashing.. because I really wasn't trying to. I said some good things.. I liked the CH room and the grounds! THen the other post, I was curious if she was in the same room they offered me. it was 3 girls I think who posted things they didn't like about a place... and I'm sorry but we are allowed to do that. And I really am not trying to 'fight' with anyone or offend anyone... but aren't we all here to gather information bad or good? I know I am. I wish i heard more about the make-up people I went to before I went there.

you can say whatever you want... cant please everyone in the process of planning a wedding ya know... as for food, you really cant change that and i realize it is subjective.... there will even be people at your wedding who wont like the food, but thats bc people have diff tastes and once again, you cant cater to everyone... as far as the room setup, theres nothing that can be done there either but i will tell you, that i actually like having all tables on 1 side of the room... at least it gets the families to intermingle instead of being separated by a huge dance floor... so that was actually a plus in my book and something i have really not seen... so theres my positive for ya

You are 100% correct! can't please everyone! i am sure there will be some people who walk away from my wedding a little less than satisfied.. just because you can't please everyone. But you knew what you were looking for in a place when you went looking for a place... and you found it in the Swan Club so it doesn't matter what anyone else says about it because we aren't you and we aren't looking for what you are in a place. Some people want huge ballrooms and some people want more intimate settings, etc. Some people want subtle and basic beauty where others want marble and elaborate decor all around... it's all different. The Swan Club is a popular place so they must be doing something right to still be around. And your way of looking at the dance floor this is really a good way. I never thought of it that way before.
I just don't want to be accused of bashing anything when i'm not doing that at all. All i was saying when I responded to that comment was that I am entitiled to say something good or bad. Because some of the bad posts are good on other levels. And I am sorry if it hurt anyone else's feelings or came accross that way. I don't want all Swan Club brides to feel bad at all. I know it's hard to read bad reviews sometimes but they can be eye openers as well.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion. If the original post had been, 'I'm thinking about having my wedding at the SC, what do you girls think about it?' and you had made the same exact comment I wouldn't have said one word about it. But it's the fact that the post had nothing to do with that and you still felt the need to point out the negatives.

Awwwww I didnt mean to hurt anyones feelings either. Im not one to be bashing places or anything at all. My friend had her ceremony there- it was gorgeous.... the cocktail hour was good... but I wasnt a fan of my steak. The other girl even said she wasnt bashing- no need for attitude. I am entitled to my opinion and I will say whatever I want to say regardless of what the thread heading states. No need to be nasty really.... I wasnt trying to hurt anyone and neither was the other girl. She already apologized.... geez.... bash where Im getting married JT. I dont like that there are more than one wedding going on at once, I dont like that they dont really allow private food tasting. If someone said they didnt like the food... then fine- thats their opinion.... who cares? Why does there have to be drama for no reason? Neither of us meant to hurt any of you.... just end it.... we are all here to help each other.

Re: Swan Club wedding last night....
Yes, that does sound like the room that you were offered. . .I've been to two wedding receptions in there.
It IS a beautiful place, and as Kerri was saying, it's not for everyone. I'm sure people would find a way to bash my RH as well, and they're entitled to feel that way. I was just trying to give my honest perception of the Swan Club. It just wasn't for us because:
1. my family likes to DAAAAAAAAAAAANCE so we needed a huge dance floor 2. it was a bit too far north of the city/major airports, and FH has a lot of OOT relatives
. . .and that's why Fox Hollow was for us, because it's right off of a parkway (no extra driving off of Jericho) and the room that they offered us was plenty spacious.
