Swan Club/Coral House

I keep trying to post this and who knows maybe there will be end up being 3 posts...

Does anyone know anything about either of these places? I am considering them for my reception site and plan on visting them this weekend and was looking for first hand information in advance.

Thanks.

Re: Swan Club/Coral House

I actually just got home from the Swan Club and I've always liked it there, I think the view is beautiful there, I was there at sunset and the view over the water is gorgeous. The food was pretty good too.

I have been to the Coral House many, many times.. I actually live pretty close by and I know the owner. It's pretty, on a lake that just got redone. They have a several rooms to chose from and I have always liked the food there.

Any other questions, just let mw know and ill try adn answer them

I've been to the Coral House for tons of events, and it was always nice. You could get some nice pictures with the lake in the background.

I booked the Swan Club, so I am biased... but its amazing and they were so reasonable on the price! We are very happy with all of our dealings with them so far. They are always nice and friendly when I call to talk to them (even after we signed the contract ). The food is amazing. The only complaint brides ever say about the Swan Club is the cake is kinda lame. That's it though, everything else is fantastic!!

We almost booked at the Coral House which was very nice and the food was good, too. FH has been to a bunch of functions there over the years with family and says it has always been very nice and good food. The only reason we didn't book is b/c we saw our hall next and fell in love and that was that.
I looove the room at the Coral House..so pretty and classy...I guess the main room?
We met with a manager there (not a BM..the facilities manager?) and he was great. Spent probably an hour or two with us, they cooked us food on the spot, which no other halls we visited were willing to do...made us feel very special and comfortable and willing to talk to us..haven't seen the Swan Club..hth!

Re: Swan Club/Coral House

i knew i shouldn't have worded it that way....

let me first start by saying that swan club was one of the places my FI and i did like and came very close to choosing. in the end however, we found something else that we felt was better FOR US. but we did like SC and did consider booking it. aside from looking into it for ourselves.....i've been to swan club for 2 different weddings and had two VERY different experiences.

Here is my honest opinion on weddings in general....you can go to a catering hall for one event and it can be great and then you can go back another time and it may not be that great. different package deal?...different chef?....different timing?...different taste?. i don't know why.... I do believe everybody has very different taste. what one person may think is great someone else may not....I have even heard mixed things about my own hall that i've booked. some people love it and rave about it, other people have told me that it wasn't that great. it's all a matter of opinion. my FI and I know what our taste is and what we like and we chose our catering hall based on our opinion and no one else's and we are happy with our decision regardless of what other people's thoughts may be. good or bad.

I went to Coral House for a tasting. The manager was soooo nice!
I loved the main ballroom and the rooftop CH but the food wasnt so good.

Never been to Swan Club.

FH and I really like the Coral House but for our sized wedding the CH room indoors wasn't what we wanted- esp with a Feb wedding. The BM was GREAT and we really liked her- their prices are good too. one of my BM had a party for her grandmother there and they all loved the food. These are Italians who are picky with food too.

That same BM also recommended Swan Club to us tho we never made it there- had to plan quickly b/c I work and am in school- started planning 6 mo before the date!

Can't go wrong with either from what I know- check reviews on here too!

Re: Swan Club/Coral House

It is so funny that you are comparing those two places because I was torn as to which venue to choose from my wedding reception. The Swan club is beautiful, the price was amazing but I felt as if I would not be able to take advantage of one of their major selling points which is their beautiful grounds and that is because my wedding was in November as well. Also I knew I was going to have a real big wedding and the Swan Club could not accomadate all of my guests. Now the Coral House, I liked a lot, and my husband instantly fell in love with it. The Coral House and our photographer were the two things that my husband really stuck to his guns about. He wanted the wedding there so badly, and I am so glad that I listened to him. The Coral House was amazing throughout my whole engagement and really went above and beyond on my wedding day. The food was exellent and my guests are still raving about the food and the service not to mention that the Coral House looked beautiful.

You have a tough decision ahead of you, just make sure that you feel completly at ease with the decision that you make, and if you need any further info about the Coral House, fm me. I am currently working on my review with pics.

Re: Swan Club/Coral House

i looked at swan club and i was *this* close to booking it. i did a tasting and the food was good. the things that bothered me was the room was kind of big for what i wanted and the minimum was too much for me, so that is why i went against it. if i had a bigger wedding that would fit right in that room then i would have done it.

also there was another wedding that would have been going on at the same time (she responded to this thread) and cocktail hour would have started at the same exact time. i went to look at the carriage house and that was perfect for what i wanted and i had always wanted a wedding there since i was little. and i like the food there better.

ETA- oh and my mother loved it so much. so i went with something else. lol.

Re: Swan Club/Coral House

We booked the swan club for their amazing grounds and the price was great! It was what we were looking for. We went for lunch to taste the food and it was great. The service was also wonderful. Some rooms at the SC are better looking than others. This is true for my room. The room upstairs are better looking than our room but we have our own bathrooms for our guest as well as our own private entrance on the ground level. The staff thus far has been great to work with. I've never been to the Coral House. One of my GM's (before I knew him) had his wedding there and was pleased. I recommend that you try to see as many places as you can!!! It was between The East Wind and the Swan Club for us. If the East Wind were closer I would have choosen them. It was just tooo far for us and our guests. Good luck. Here are some of my personal pictures taken over the summer.

P.S. If you go get a quote from the Swan Club and go back within 48 hours to book you get a free night's hotel stay at the Roslyn Claremont

Re: Swan Club/Coral House

My sister had her reception at the Swan Club, and so did a coworker of mine; both were wonderful. I particularly remember the cocktail hour food; AMAZING. The only reason we didn't consider it was that we wanted to give friends and family a change.

Another coworker of mine got married at the Coral House (before he joined us) and was very happy with his experience there. The only time I have been there was for a yearbook advisor awards dinner, in 2002. The food was good, but a guest got milk spilled on her head by accident by a waittress, and another didn't get her dinner until very late. Those things happen everywhere, but it's my only memory of the place!
