I've been having some swelling in my hands, feet, and lower legs for a few weeks now. At first, it would get pregressively worse over the course of the day, but by morning, everything would be normal again. Lately, the swelling goes down over night, but never really goes away. Since it hasn't been hot out for the past 2 days, and I've been very careful with my salt intake and the swelling hasn't improved, I called my doctor so he could tell me I was normal and worried about nothing, but he is concerned and wants to see me first thing tomorrow morning.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

Re: Swelling
Please...ham sticks. I know.
Poor dear. You'll be fine. They are going to tell you to stay off your ham sticks and drink even MORE water. Sometimes I wonder if I can waterlog my child.
The swelling is YUCK I just looked down to note that my fat pork hooves are actually pushing out OVER the opening of my shoe. LOVELY.

Re: Swelling
Jenn ...
I'm in the same boat. I was having such a bad day last week when I went to see the dr & while he didn't like it, he said that as long as my BP was ok & my urine sample tested ok, that there wasn't much I could do that I already wasn't. I find that its worse after school. I don't have much of the same problem on the weekends, even if I'm busy & running around all day. Yesterday was the first day that I didn't go home with elephant ankles, I gues b/c it wasn't 80 during the day!
Hope you feel better! Let us know what the dr says! Here are some for luck anyway!

Re: Swelling
I am sure everything is fine. The doctor probably just wants to rule out preeclampsia. Hang in there, Mommy!

Jenny
I know it isn't nice to laugh at the PG ladies here I couldn't help the chuckle I got at the ham sticks comments. I got a visual of 2 very pink legs and little pig heads on the toes. I am giggling out loud at my desk. I know when I get PG that this is going to be me and I can only hope that I have oyur humor about it!!!
I hope you are all feeling better!

Re: Swelling
Well, at this point, everything looks okay, but he's going to monitor me for toxemia. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, but now I need to be seen every week!
Thanks for the support... have I mentioned lately that I love you ladies??

Re: Swelling
Jen- it sounds like your doctor is really on top of things. I would be reassured that he wants to keep a close eye on you and takes your concerns seriously. Have you been exercising? Walking, etc. is one of the best ways to treat the swelling in your legs.

Re: Swelling
Thanks girls!
Jessica, I was walking on and off, but the doc told me today that since I'm on my feet at work all day I need to be off my feet with my legs elevated for as many of my non working hours as I can manage. I think I deserve a laptop for my troubles!

Re: Swelling
I don't know from experience what it's like to be 8 months pregnant, but I would imagine at this point you should worry about walking later and put the footsies up when you can.
Anyone who spends their days cleaning up after 5 year olds deserves pampering even when they're not pregnant.

I am glad that you are okay Jenn. I am sure you just have that normal almost done cooking stuff going on. I am at the doctors so much now I figure I might just want to move into the darn offices.

Re: Swelling
Jenn at the end I was so swollen it was unreal Now i keep saying to Steve look at my legs don't they look great, I have my real feet, ankles, and legs back. Like Christine said as long as your urine and BP is OK you are fine. I swear a week after the baby comes out you will be back to normal. I now have a new appreciation for my wedding band and engagement rings which I can finally put back on!!!
