SWR: Alli Weight Loss Pill

what do you guys think about it? I bought it yesterday, but I'm not going to start until the weekend. It says to be near a bathroom. awesome! i know it says to be on a low fat diet while eating it (and i am) and you wont get the side effects. has anyone heard anything about it before i open the package and cant return it??

I heard that if you lose weight on it as soon as you stop taking it all the weight comes back....

but...that tends to happen with most diet methods anyway, so who knows!

I know a woman who tried it and she had to replace lots of undies and some pants. She stuck to a low fat diet and still had 'anal leakage' The stories she told me grossed me out so much, I won't try it.

Oh ewwwwwww!!! I ordered it, but I figured that I'd be ok since I'm on a low fat diet. I'll definitely be waiting until the weekend to start it now though. Thanks for the gross, but very helpful tip!! lol

i know someone who is on it. She is actually becoming teh spokesperson!
I have been thinking about starting it as well but am afraid of the side effects. She gave me a book to read first. This lady has never experienced any of the side effects - as long as you stick to the lowfat diet, you should not experience them

i got kind of nervous though when it said start on a weekend or be near a bathroom and wear dark-colored pants and bring a change of clothes!

Girls...are any of you really that overweight that you would want those side effects? I don't think any of you are. Just stay on a normal diet such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig which you can lose weight naturally and be able to start a healthy life style. You don't want to make yourselves sick before your weddings.

I just heard this same thing from a co-worker yesterday! I can't deal with anal leakage - I'd rather be a little chubby and be able to keep my pretty underwear pretty!
Sometimes I think I want to try a weight loss pill but then I'm too afraid of the side effects or lasting complications that could come from it. You never know. Don't trust something just because the FDA or Government approves it.
It's basically a diurectic.

I never heard of it! Where did you get it? I could use some pills right now! Was it expensive?

I agree, just because the gov't says it OK, doesn't make it so.

It works by blocking the absorption of fat in your intestines. The thing is your body needs some fat to function properly and Alli doesn't distiunguish between healthy and un healthy fat.

I've been losing weight on weight watchers, it may take me longer but I figure this way I'll be healthy and it'll probably stay off.

Personally, I would NEVER take those. Why? I have chronic pancreatitis, which means, among other things, that I have trouble digesting fat. I have to eat a low-fat diet. (This does not mean I'm skinny, there's a lot of low-fat foods you can eat! ) However, when I do eat too much fat, what happens is pretty disgusting. The whole point of Alli is to prevent you from digesting fat. The fat doesn't just go away. And it's not just disgusting, and can leak--yes, LEAK--you get cramps like you have diarrhea. It's extremely unpleasant. Have you ever eaten those chips with Olestra, the fat you can't digest, the kind with all the warnings on them? That's what happens, just with all foods with fat. So if you're going to do it, DEFINITELY stick to the low-fat diet. You will regret it if you don't.

Good luck with the weight loss. Personally, I think a diet where you reduce calories overall and increase your exercise is the only sensible option, because you can keep it up after you lose the weight and you won't gain it back. And, yes, I know what I'm talking about: I lost more than 100 pounds five years ago and have kept it off.

I totally agree. I lost 45 lbs the old fashioned way. Eating healthy, drinking water and working out.

And good example with the Olestra. Recently I ate chips with Olestra in them and didn't realize it. I was sooo sick and crampy with diarrhea all day the next day. It was awful!!

Ok, I must be the odd man out!

I eat the chips w/ Olestra all the time and never had a side effect! I've eaten almost a whole bag and nothing....all my friends have the same reaction to Olestra and they all think I am an alien b/c it has no effect!

Maybe I should try this new pill and see what happens....LOL JK
