My friend and I are throwing a party the night before our wedding as a last night out single / his birthday party. We have the space and we have the theme...Long Island 1976.
Can I get ideas on decorations? outfits? anything to enhance the theme?!??!

You totally have to play 70s music (hits from the late 60s thru 1976)

Isn't that the disco era. I remember dancing with my aunt in the late 70's/early 80's to the bee gees and donna summer. I was little...but I remember it vividly!

It would be really cute if everyone that's invited could dress up in traditional 70's clothes:bell bottoms, platform shoes, big hair the whole thing lol

You need those colored lights - like on Saturday Night Fever....and LOTS of polyester!
You could put up posters or pics from that time...like the famous Farrah Faucet (sp?) one, etc. or play TV shows just for background
ETA You could also play Twister! (it would be kinda funny after everyone has a few drinks)

Kind of. Disco really took off in 1975 though there were a few disco sounding hits starting as early as 1968/69. I was thinking more along of the lines of late Beatles, Jackson 5, James Brown, but you can totally play disco songs like 'Get Down Tonight', 'Lady Marmalade', 'Rock the Boat.'
Then again, you don't have to be that specific; I'm just a dork for 70s music.

Get wedding pictures of friends family aunts, cousins parents who were married during the 70s and decorate with those
