SWR: My Mom is Driving me crazy

Ok this is the 2nd spat I've had with my mom in a day ahd a half. FH had a great interview for a marketing position. Currently he's in sales but he HATES it. This new position is considerably less $$ and he was concerned about it but I told him to GO FOR IT if it makes him happy and that he's young and he'll be able to move up.
So I call my mother to tell her that the interview went well and the first thing she says is 'how much $$ is he getting?' I'm like 'listen mom, it's not as much as current job.'
And she says 'can't he negotiate?'

Am I being too uptight? I feel like it's not her place to ask how much he's getting OR to even comment on the negotiation!?! She told me I had a bad attitude when i told her this and then hung up the phone abruptly. UGGGGH!!!

Wow. That really isnt an appropriate question. Money isnt everything and if hes making tons of money but miserable, its not worth it. She should be happy for you guys...

I've quickly learned that the closer I get to the wedding day the less personal information to give to my parents. They don't need to see your paychecks or anything. Any decisions you make with FH, especially financial ones, are yours to make a lone. I agree, you should do something you love or at least like. After a few years you will get job burn out and be miserable even though you make a decent amount of money if you hate your job.

This is so true! My parents know I make a decent amount of tips from waitressing and my step-father always feels the need to ask, 'so how much did you make last night' I started lying about how much I make because if I tell them the truth, he starts giving me 'financial advice' I decided to steer clear of any work or money discussions with them. I dont ask them how much they make and he wouldnt tell me anyway.

It's just so intrusive and nosy. I'm just going to watch what I say now. UGH. Now I have to deal with her this weekend and her silent treatment.

Plus, I don't want FH to know that my Mom and I even discussed this because he feels bad that he won't be contributing as much as he would be in his former job. I don't want him to feel bad, i want him to feel EXCITED that he may have a new opportunity to work in a job he could LOVE.

Thanks for all the support girls. I really appreciate it and to reinforce that i'm not crazy.
