SWR- Photography Vent
Soo... I'm the photographer in the family. I always take pics at weddings, christenings, showers, etc. I also do family pictures, etc.
So.. my FSIL was planning a big wedding and cancelled it, and then decided to have a much smaller wedding, which she planned, shotgun-style, in 10 days.
We didn't get invitations, we got 'keep next weekend open, we might be getting married'... so a few days into that I said 'umm..am I THE photographer?' and she's like 'yeah'....um thanks for asking.
So then she tells us to be there at 2pm for like a week, then we speak to her the night before and she's all 'Oh we're doing pictures at 12:30...' so I was like 'oh, did you hire a photographer?' and she's like 'no, it's still you' and I'm all 'WHEN WERE YOU PLANNING TO TELL ME?' because we had plans that morning for months and she lives like 3 hours away.
So anyway, I go to the wedding, I take the photos, I upload a few of them to her computer right after the wedding, and I post the rest on facebook and Shutterfly. After the wedding it was like 'thank you, the photos were great' and I know they printed up Thank you photos based on a photo I shot, and we also gave them a frame (which now holds a print of what I shot) but we NEVER got a Thank you card!
Fast forward to Christmas. I had albums made up for FSIL and FBIL and for FMIL and FFIL. I totally designed them myself and put a LOT of work into them. On top of that they weren't really that cheap. When I gave them out, everyone was there, but FBIL, and they were all 'Oh this is so great....wedding photographers charge $5000 for this, this si so wonderful, blah blah)
Right after that, my FSIL is like 'OH look, what my MOH gave me, it's so nice'... it turns out the MOH took all of MY pictures and made a montage for FSIL. WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION!!!!!!! ANd my sister is all 'pooh look at this' and crying, and um...well they're MY pictures!!!!
I also designed an album and linked my FSIL to the design for HER in laws. Meanwhile, FBIL has never once said anything or thanked me for the albums.
I put a lot of time and effort into doing this stuff and I feel like it's not at all appreciated. Not to mention the time and money I've spent learning my craft and buying equipment. I'm getting really p*ssed to the point where I don't think I'm going to take any pictures for anyone anymore. I mean you could AT LEAST call me and say thank you or send a card, and that B---H MOH should have asked my permission. Does anyone know how to put the watermark thing on the photos before posting them? I used to be able to do it in iPhoto, but my Mac died and now I'm on a PC.
I think I'm most ticked off about my pics being stolen w/o permission.
On a happier note, here's one of my favorite pics from the wedding...
ETA: Yes, my niece was walking around by herself in the parking lot, and yes I snapped this picture BEFORE going to get her. It was too good..the dirty gravel and then her fluffy white dress. Had to get the shot.
