SWR - skin care

so i figured we're all looking for good skin on our wedding days as well as any help with getting it that way, so why not start a thread on it? post any of your skin care/cosmetic hints and/or products that work well!

my hint: i have REALLY sensitive skin and get allergic reactions to almost everything. after my makeup trial, my skin freaked out and now is even more sensitive so i've decided to take the all natural approach. first i wash my face with neutrogena extra sensitive skin cleanser (think about switching over to a natural cleanser, but i'm giving this one a chance) then i used a toner made with 3 cups of distilled water and 1 cup of apple cider vinegar. then i moisturize with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil (also a great makeup remover). every now and then i put apple cider vinegar right on my face, leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then wash it off. it acts as an exfoliater. since i started this my skin has looked MUCH better. maybe it's a little weird, but it works for me.

i'm still looking for makeup i can use though... =0)

L'Oreal Hydrafresh is the BEST! And I use Oil of Olay lotion for sensitive skin. I dont really break out but if I used scented lotion I get irritated. Also, CO Bigelow Sea Algae mask works wonders!!! Its so gentle and make your face glow afterwards.

For Make-up I use Bare Escentuals for the base and bronzer. Its so good for sensitive skin. I love Vicky's eye shadows too.

Really??!! I thought it was hypo-allergenic. I havent heard of this ever happening! But then again maybe it could happen to someone with super sensitive skin. Ive fallen asleep with this make up and nothing happens to my skin.

i was doing research on it because i was thinking about it and apparently the makeup itself is fine, but the setting powder has a chemical ingredient in it that can be really irritating. i haven't tried it, but now i'm worried.

How did you come up with this routine? It sounds pretty complicated!

research - looking for a natural alternative for the chemical stuff that was making my skin raw. it's not complicated. most people wash their face, put a toner on, and moisturize, i just substituted the materials. (i did add the toner to my routine though - never used to do that before). i only use the exfoliating when my skin feels extra gross/dirty.

purminerals and bare minerals are really good brands of makeup for your skin. A bit expensive, but worth it if you have sensitive skin. Try going to Ulta if you live near one and talking to one of the girls who work there. They will recommend something and let you try it to see how it feels and matches with your skin tone. I use purminerals and a good friend of mine uses bare minerals and we like both of them. Because they are powder foundations instead of liquid they feel really light on your skin, too!

Murad makes an AMAZING cleanser, moisterizer, etc... for sensitive skin, it's all natural (you can get it at sephora). I have really sensitive skin, and almost anything dries out or makes my skin red, after using this cleanser my skin is MUCH better. I also use Bare essentials, and have never had any problems, love there make up! (DDF also makes a really good gentle foaming cleanser.)

I am starting to think that all of the stuff my dermatologist gives me is doing nothing. I bought my own neutrogena products which seem to work pretty well but I think my biggest problem is scarring. I went to a new dermatologist today who gave me my first-ever chemical peel. He IMMEDIATELY noticed my ring and assured me that we will have my skin looking good for my wedding! I like him already!

I LOVE Arbonne....so much so that I became a consultant. Their Re9 products are a bit pricey but last for a long time and my skin hasn't looked so great in years. All their products are botanically based and do not contain mineral oil (cause if you think about it mineral oil is a crude oil derivative). Its all dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic with no artificial colors or frangences and its not tested on animals nor does it contain animal products

They also have thermal face masks, aromatherapy, protien shakes and a make up line. If you'd like to try it out FM me and I can meet you and you can try some of the products if you'd like (I have the entire make-up line)
