SWR: The downside of instant gratification

SWR: The downside of instant gratification

I've been thinking of how our society has become all about instant gratification these days. Especially New Yorkers, where you can pretty much get whatever you want if you have a car or internet access.

My parents taught us the value of patience and working hard for something. The rewards of that kind of thing tend to be so much better than something that was right under your nose the whole time. Kind of like earning the money to buy your first clunker of a car versus having a brand new sportscar handed over to you.

I see our wedding planning in the same way. All this work and planning pays off in a one-day event. What other thing in your life has so much planning for such a short reward time?

I think we should all congratulate ourselves for what we're doing here, carrying on the notion that patience and planning are valuable things and that we can reap the rewards in good conscience.

I just hope we can all enjoy the fruits of our labor when the time comes before it's all over and we only have the memories, pictures and videos to remember!

Thanks for that, btw. Sometimes we need to hear things like that to put things in perspective. You are absolutely right with everything you said!
