OMG i just got insurance benefits for my new job and realize they take out $130 every two weeks for insurance(empire blue cross) for just me...this seems like a lot to me but i dont know anything about this stuff. does this sound right? do you pay this much? FH pays literally $6 biweekly...it looks like i may be hitting the courthouse for a quickie wedding!!!!!

That seems like a lot to me but maybe I am wrong. I am actually lucky because I dont have to contribute to my insurance so I dont really know what it should be

Re: SWR...health insurance...
Im on my FH's insurance and were not married yet. We have whats called a 'domestic partnership', some companys carry it, some dont. You should look into it. Do you guys live together?

That does sound like a lot. I am going onto FH insurance and I don't think they take out too much for it.

Re: SWR...health insurance...
It really depends on your company. If your company doesn't pay into your insurance, then it's all on you so you're getting off cheap. Do they offer several levels of the plan? Find out from your HR what's included like vision, dental, etc. You may be paying for stuff you don't need (like vision). My company offers different levels so I pay more monthly, but my co-pays and prescriptions are less. And believe me, I make sure I go to the doctor regularly to get my money's worth.

I pay like $30 per month but it all depends on how much your employer contributes. $220 doesn't sound too bad compared to the over $350 you would probbly pay on your own...
For me to add FH to my plan though- it would be another $400/mo
