Re: table camera or not?

My sister got some of her best pics from these -- people tend to be much more uninhibited with each other than a prof photog...we are putting 1-2 on every table with ribbon and instructions. Bandleader will announce and planner (substitute anyone who can be assigned this task) will walk around to encourage people to do and get started. She will also collect them towards the end. I figure, I cannot have too many pics, you know?
I found Wedding cameras for $2 apiece online and the rest is just a bit of legwork.

Re: table camera or not?

I say definetly do them, it is an added expense but in the long scheme of things it's not really a big deal. I posted a similar question months ago and many brides on this board said that they got some great shots from the table cameras

I was thinking of doing them- b&w ones on the cocktail party tables only. What do you guys think of that??

Re: table camera or not?

B+W sounds like a good idea but the pics (at least from our experience with past weddings) are tougher to get because of the darkness of the room. Not everyone is patient enough for a flash...

Re: table camera or not?

thanks Deb-- my question really was more about during cocktail hour- rather than reception.

I sorta want pics of people before they get all drunk.. People sit around then anwyay- they are not constantly eating for an hour..

Re: table camera or not?

Will it be well lit? With an evening wedding, won't it already be darkish? I think if people use a flash, either would work, it is just they had both for CH and Recep. and the black and whites were fuzzy and dark and the colors came out SO much better.
You also may have smarter friends than they do--not that hard to do!

Re: table camera or not?

no table cameras - i feel they cheapen the affair.

i am happily paying for a wonderful photographer, and do not feel the need for table cameras.

Re: table camera or not?

I am just going to wait to make my decision.. I didn't want to put them in the ballroom-- and that will def be too dark-- ch room will def be brighter though. Maybe I'll get a b/w and try them out.

Re: table camera or not?

I'm skipping it. I plan to have the ballroom dimly lit and I don't think the pics would come out that great. It seems like an awful lot of work and expense for a small payoff.

Re: table camera or not?

We got married at night; the ballroom at the Vanderbilt was dimly lit and we had table cameras on each table at the reception. Every camera was completely used and we got back some great pictures and some not so great pictures--blurry ones, ones where the flash didn't go off, etc. I do recommend getting cameras with flashes.

It was really worth it. When we got back from our mini-honeymoon, my Mom had already taken and gotten back the developed photos from our table cameras, so we were able to see the wedding through our friends eyes. Plus we got some great group photos that our photographer wouldn't think of taking. So my vote is to go with table cameras.
