Re: Table # or table names, and what are you printing them on?
I actually wanted table names. FH and I were going to name them places that we've been to together like...St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Boston, etc... but opted not to because I think it would cause massive confusion and people will be wandering all over the place trying to find their table. I will be doing something cute with table numbers.

I was going to post this same topic today!!! I am debating between names like love, loyalty, etc. and regulat #'s. I think the names are nicer but will people ( esp older people) get confused??

Thats one thing, and my parents were saying that what if the people sitting at the table aren't what you name the table (loyal, honest, etc.) ETS: I told them that that doesn't matter, but they keep saying no.

I did table names. I think searching around for numbers will be just as difficult as searching around for names. The only table I named and seated people with on purpose was my old boss... he is sitting at Patience

IF your having a smaller wedding, less than 100 people I dont think having table names would cause too much confusion, when you have larger weddings I could see this happening, I don't know yet which one we will do.

That's so cute. I wanted names, but I am too lazy to be creative. I love that pic!!

Do you all recall the cute placecards (or more correctly named escort cards) that are made with the table number on card stock and the guest's name on vellum over it? I would love to copy that idea for table names and numbers. I would reverse it though and put the words on the card stock and the table numbers on vellum.
I would keep only the numbers on the escort cards so this would be done just to match and because I love the idea of all the 'love words' that can be used.
Any thoughts on this idea?

I went to a wedding with 300 people and they did table names of all the places they've been. I thought it was a really cute idea and I'm thinking about doing it for mine.
To help with the confusion, the bride put a seating chart outside the room so you could see where the table was before you went in. AND she had the banquet manager pointing the tables out for people as they walked in.

I love the Precious Moments cards.
I think Table Names would be cute. Let the guests have a laugh or two!!

I printed mine on fancy notecards I got from Office Depot. The color was perfect so they came out great. I did table names but also printed the table number on the back. We had 400 people and it would have been confusing with just the names. I went to a 200 person wedding with just table names and it took us 10 minutes to find our table. So i'd strongly suggest printing the numbers on the back as well or in the corner.

i thought it would be nice, but nothing came to mind right away, and i didn't want to put too much effort into it.
I thought names might be better , b/c peopel wouldn't be as offended if that were at 'chicago' or 'hapiness' as they might me if that are at table 8 & so & so is at table 4. . .
Putting names & numbers liek LImom suggested is a good idea. I amy eb doign something liek that with the numbers, usignthe number written out & the digit.

I'm doing a fall theme and table names so the paper will have leaves on it. We will either do the first place we met, favorite baseball team, etc. or love, patience, understanding (all the qualities of a successful marriage). We will put them in alphabetical order so you can find your table...

I think I'm going to do names that go with our theme (it's a swing theme - so, they'll be named after swing songs), and we'll have a chart or something outside the room to help people find their table.

What size cards are you all making? With my limited knowledge of computers, I'm trying to figure out how words of different lengths would work out - the card with the word 'love' next to a card with the words 'marriage', 'patience' or even 'understanding'? It isn't easy to come up with 20 short words.
