Where can I rent or buy nice ones for an oval table. Also what do you think is more elegant, a table runner or lace overlay. I am leaning toward the table runner.

Depends on what your theme is. A table runne is very nice and suits most types of occasions. A lace overlay would more of a classic feel. There are many places that do linens, including a few vendors on here. I beleive one is called finishing touches, good luck.

Re: table runners
we are having a difficult time with table runners too. I think what we're going to end up doing is buying the fabric and paying to have them sewn. We already got the dimensions from our RH

Re: table runners
I'm buying the fabric in the garment district in the city and bringing it to my tailor. From what I hear, you can get the pieces cut to size from the store so all the tailor has to do is make seams at the edges.
