Has anyone dealt with any tackiness at any weddings they've been to?
I went to a wedding in August of this year and the first thing you see as you walk in were 3 2liter soda bottles sitting on each table, and when they finished you would have to go to the kitchen of the reception hall to get another soda bottle. Also there was a cashbar that was opened for an hour and for the next three hours the bar was completely closed. There was no cocktail hour..no hors d'oeuvres..no salad....NOTHING just a hard roll on the table. The cake cutting was not even announced, you had to be seated at the table to get a piece of cake if you weren't then no cake for you...lolololol.....Also one of the bridesmaids said to the bride during speech that she was her b*tch ..it was just so ghetto....lol
Anyone else had to deal with something like this?

wow thats impressive haha
i dont think i've been to any tacky weddings yet... but the last one i went to, like you i didn't get cake if i wasn't seated at the table...which i thought was odd but otherwise they've all been pretty normal i guess

I agree i don't like to criticize about weddings because i've been to many low budget weddings. There were only 2 beautiful over the top weddings i've been to one was in california at shutters on the beach for fh's best friend and the other one was Fh's brother. I've usually don't go to weddings to much which it makes it a little ironical i wasn't really into weddings until fh proposed!! lol but in the other hand it was probably a low budget wedding!! but the speech was of course inappropriate!!! wow

I don't like to criticize but it was just really upsetting to have to go out to Jersey, dealing with a whole lot of traffic on a Saturday night on the George Washington to not even get a bite to eat besides bread. I'm sorry if i sound mean or b*tchy

But the food and the missing mixed drinks it was just not right. I love my food and if i'm not fed right i'm not a happy camper lololololol

i agree with you on that. if the food is no good i am miserable. i also have to deal with the fact that FH is a super picky eater & god forbid they don't have something for him to eat. i never hear the end of it.

Re: Tackiness at weddings?
i think that weddings are different elsewhere than they are in NY. I think in NY we go 'all-out' compared to other places. FH and I attended his frat buddy from college's wedding a year or so ago up in Massachusetts. There was no CH hour, (just a platter of cheese and fruit) and only the first hour was open bar. To me and FH this may seem weird but to them its normal..

now that you mention it, i think you're right... ny-ers do go all out in comparison...my fh's brother was best man at a wedding where it was byob i think in PA ... i thought that was weird but maybe it isn't ....

I've heard of BYOBs as well... and my friend just recently went to a wedding in Virginia where everyone got a ticket for 'one free drink'
