Is it a little tacky, the song kind of is about sex, not really love..

Re: Tacky First Song?
I dont know but that song feels very morbid and dark to me. LOL The words are sweet but for people who arent familiar, they might think its strange...Sorry, just my opinion...
Then again, I have people til this day asking what my first dance song was.

hmm...I think of that song as not so much a love song, but more of an unrequited love song.
I love it and think its a great song.
I personally don't picture it being a first dance kind of song, but if it has meaning to you and FH and that is what you want to dance to, then don't let some stupid article change your mind.

Re: Tacky First Song?
nah no meaning to us...
I don't like normal pop/contemporary music, I'm more alternative rock, but FH and rest of family is old school... I felt that this met in the middle somehow...
I guess we could always do Sinatra ..
its so sad we have no song!

Re: Tacky First Song?
do what makes you happy.
we are picking a very very very non-traditional first dance song. the words themselves are fine, but the context is quite unusual. it's meaningful to us so we dont care what other people think.
we're assuming that almost anyone who recognizes our song knows it and likes it, and that our older relatives wont know the song and will just see it as any other song. we're also having our band tweak it slightly.
i dont know your song. if i was a guest at your wedding id be paying more attention to watching you guys dance and commenting on how cute you are together than nitpicking the words of the song.

If the song means something to you, then use it. I mean, come on, I'm using an acoustic version of 'Born to Run' as our first dance. It's about escaping a small town in NJ, but it means something to us.
I hope this helps.

Pick the song that means the most to you & fh. Heck we are dancing to Queen 'you're my best friend'.

I actually think You're my best friend is a totally appropriate wedding song...the lyrics are perfect and it just flat out a great song.
I tried for that one. FH doesn't like the phrase 'best friend' though b/c he feels like it excludes peopl. He doesn't use it to describe his best man. He'll say 'oldest friend' or 'good friend' but never 'best friend'. He makes fun of me b/c he thinks I have 5 best friends. So weird.

I say do what makes you happy. If you wan to leave your guests guessing than go for it.
However, i suspect you might be defending your song choice throught the reception

Re: Tacky First Song?
I don't think it's 'tacky,' I think it's... and I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings... weird.
It's a song about a woman who teased Chris Isaak sexually and then left him. The chorus consists only of the line 'I don't want to fall in love / love is gonna break your heart.' You can use it, sure, it's your wedding and you can make any choice you want. But know that all 100 people watching and listening are gonna say a collective 'What the f**k?' and you'll probably get a lot of giggles.

hmmmm if the song doesnt have special meaning for you and these are the words, it might be better to use as a different song...

Who Cares what they think? For every person who hates it, there will be another person who loves it. I think you should go with what is meaningful for you and your man. (and that goes for any decisions you make during this whole planning process!)

It does sound a little sad but if you two love it go for it. You only get one first dance so go with what you two want.

Re: Tacky First Song?
I remember the video and it made it seem very much about sex...more than a wedding song should I think...just my honest opinion, I would not choose that as mine, but to each his own...if you love it, who is to say you should not choose it???
