go for it. what's the worst that could happen - people don't get it for you?

any dept store I would think - Macy's, Fortunoff's, Pottery Barn....

i did. no one really bought the expensive stuff but as far as ive heard no one seemed to mind that it was there. as long as you give a good range of prices i think its ok.
i actually wanted to register at west elm for more furniture but they dont have a registry option..PB it is!

we're going to add furniture -- that worse that can happen is people don't buy it, but then most registries give the completion discount so if you do end up buying it yourself you'll save a little $$

I'm not going to be registering for furniture but don't think it's tacky if you're going to. I'd think that your parents and/or close relatives that would normally spend more $$$ on you would buy stuff like that. I'd buy whatever's on the registry no matter what it is...you want-I buy

I added like coffee tables, hanging mirrors, and art and that stuff. I say go for it....A post above said that they give you some money off if you don't get it....And it is true. So I might just do the same thing.

Remember registrys are your 'wish list' so do what you wish for....

We have some furniture on our registry and my reasoning behind it is that if no one buys it (and the only people I would think that would possibly buy us furniture would be close family), then at least after the wedding, we'll get a 10% discount on whatever we didn't get. I registered for furniture at JCPenney and I highly recommend their stuff...really good quality stuff for reasonable prices. Also check out Fortunoff and Sears, they also have good qulity furniture...Hope that helps!
